Job Overview

NYSERDA seeks an experienced, independent, and self-motivated individual to join its Clean Transportation team to help lead the design and delivery of innovative programs that advance the adoption of transportation electrification in New York State, working in close partnership with both public sector and private sector partners.

The successful candidate will work with the Clean Transportation team to help lead a portfolio of programs and initiatives. This position will focus its work on expanding and accelerating electric vehicle charging installations across New York State.

  • DC Fast Charging Programs
  • Charge Ready NY
  • Drive Clean Rebate
  • New York State Truck Voucher Incentive Program
  • New York School Bus Incentive Program
  • New York Clean Transportation Prizes
  • Clean Mobility Program
  • Additional research and policy initiatives

This position requires someone with a strong background in energy, transportation, program development and execution, and experience working with a broad spectrum of stakeholders. The ability to simultaneously manage and prioritize multiple projects while paying close attention to details and working independently is essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate proven interpersonal skills with a track record of establishing relationships and forging new ones when needed. The candidate will ideally demonstrate a strong understanding of electric vehicles, EV charging, and the process for installing charging stations. An ideal candidate will have the range and ability to successfully work with a wide range of stakeholders such as market players, regulators, sister agencies, State officials and local governments.

The person who fills the position will be expected to travel approximately 5-10% of professionally committed time to meet with team members, project partners, and stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Administer funding programs to support the installation of EV charging stations in New York State. This may include DC fast chargers, Level 2 chargers, and charging for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Coordinate with internal NYSERDA teams to execute contracts, develop scopes of work, modify program documents and other relevant processes that relate to program administration.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for program improvement, including ways to streamline and improve processes and procedures and ways NYSERDA can better address equity in transportation.
  • Manage implementation contractors that support NYSERDA in reviewing program applications, collecting data, and compiling reports on program activity related to EV charging programs.
  • Work with program participants to advance their projects by providing guidance and insights.
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with leading market stakeholders including industry participants, end users, trade organizations, utilities, and government and represent NYSERDA in collaborative initiatives with other NYS and Federal agencies and public and private entities.
  • Perform all job responsibilities with respect, fairness, consistency, and inclusion.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Project Manager: (Salary range $78,333 - $131,298)
    • Required: Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience
    • Preferred: Master's degree and 4 years of relevant experience
  • Project Manager II: (Salary range $93,659 - $131,298)
    • Required: Bachelor's degree and 6 years of relevant experience
    • Preferred: Master's degree with 5 years of relevant experience
  • Senior Project Manager: (Salary range $115,283-$145,682)
    • Required: Bachelor's degree with 7 years managing complex projects in the clean transportation or clean energy space including at least 1 year in a supervisory role
    • Preferred: Master's degree with 6 years managing complex projects in the clean transportation or clean energy space including at least 1 year in a supervisory role
  • Strong project management skills, with a preference for experience with program design and process improvements
  • Subject matter expertise in clean transportation, transportation electrification, and a passion for issues related to clean transportation and equity
  • Demonstrated ability to independently and simultaneously manage a wide range of innovative and complex projects under deadline, including developing and managing workplans and budgets and overseeing consultant work products
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and manage both contractors and internal teams
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite; familiarity with Salesforce preferred

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience working with a broad spectrum of both public and private sector stakeholders
  • A strong understanding of electric vehicles, EV charging, and the process for installing charging stations
  • Experience negotiating contracts and developing scopes of work with third party partners and/or consultants
  • Experience using Salesforce and other project management software tools
  • Additional as needed
