New Energy Nexus (www.newenergynexus.com) is a global non-profit on a mission to support diverse entrepreneurs in accelerating the transition to a clean energy future. We provide funding, business acceleration, and access to a global network of innovators. Since launching in California, we've expanded to China, India, Uganda, UAE, Australia, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines, boosting hundreds of startups annually while uplifting thousands more entrepreneurs. Since 2004, New Energy Nexus (up until recently known as California Clean Energy Fund) has deployed 94M in investment, supported over 1,200 clean energy startups, and launched industry-leading centers for solution collaboration.
South Asia has been a core focus for us since 2016, and now, we're launching in Pakistan, a pivotal player in the global energy transition. With a strong partnership in place with Renewables First, a leading energy think tank, we're building the country's first-of-its-kind program to support energy entrepreneurs and workforce development.
About the Role

As Pakistan Program Manager, you will be at the forefront of shaping the country's clean energy ecosystem. You'll design and launch high-impact programs in collaboration with our partners that empower startups, upskill professionals, and connect key players across the industry. You'll work with a global team of experts while pioneering new initiatives tailored to Pakistan's unique energy challenges and opportunities. You will have the resources, and backing of a global organization to create a lasting impact in one of the most exciting emerging energy markets in the world.
Work location will be in Islamabad, Pakistan at the Renewables First's office.
Role & Responsibilities
1. Program Design & Implementation - Powering Energy Entrepreneurs
- Lead the launch of Pakistan's first clean energy startup incubator / accelerator, leveraging New Energy Nexus' proven tools and global expertise.
- Work with a dynamic team to ensure programs fit the needs of local entrepreneurs and startups, providing real-world solutions for their success.
- Design and execute workshops, bootcamps, and training programs that equip founders with the knowledge, skills, and networks they need to thrive.
- Identify and engage top-tier mentors, industry experts, and investors to support startup growth.
- Develop and execute marketing & communications strategies to attract and showcase Pakistan's brightest energy innovators.
2. Energy Skills Training - Building Pakistan's Clean Energy Workforce
- Develop and implement a strategy to train the next generation of solar installers and renewable energy project developers.
- Expand our solar professional training platform (newenergyacademy.com) into Pakistan.
- Forge partnerships with technical vocational (TVET) schools to create hands-on, practical training opportunities.
- Engage with industry leaders, solar associations, and government agencies to align training with market needs.
3. Partnerships & Ecosystem Building - Making an Impact at Scale
- Cultivate relationships with funders, foundations, government agencies, and corporate partners to fuel program growth.
- Represent New Energy Nexus at industry events, policy discussions, and high-profile meetings to position our work at the forefront of Pakistan's clean energy transition.
- Build and manage a thriving network of energy entrepreneurs, professionals, and partners to drive collaboration and innovation.
- Stay ahead of the curve-keep your finger on the pulse of emerging trends, policies, and opportunities in Pakistan's energy sector.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Deeply passionate about entrepreneurship, sustainability, and the future of energy.
- Proven program & project management experience, you've successfully managed complex initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
- 4+ years of experience in either a startup accelerator, entrepreneur support program, or renewable energy industry.
- A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently while staying connected to a global team across multiple time zones.
- Fluent in Urdu and English, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep expertise in the clean energy sector, whether through work experience, education, or a burning personal interest.
- Experience in startup ecosystems, including incubators, accelerators, investors, and entrepreneur support organizations.
- Prior entrepreneurship experience is a plus!
- Background in management consulting, business strategy, or market development.
- Highly resourceful and creative, able to design innovative solutions and make things happen even in challenging environments.
- A multi-tasker with exceptional project management skills.
