Job Description

As a highly experienced expert in renewable technical operations, you'll take charge of the maintenance, safety, and day-to-day running of an assigned onshore wind region. You'll lead Area Managers and oversee everything from turbines and high-voltage systems to facilities and access tracks, currently across ~20 sites.

You'll be a key player in the Asset Operations directorate and the wider virtual business unit, collaborating across teams to drive forward EDF's strategy. Your leadership will help grow and operate our wind portfolio to industry-leading standards, making a real impact on the UK's journey to net zero.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead and coordinate highly technical operational teams across the region in all aspects of operation and maintenance of wind turbines within the portfolio.
  • Effective and efficient delivery of the services and performance levels which set out in the Operation and Maintenance Agreements (OMAs) for the various windfarms in the region.
  • Financial planning and management for the region, responsible for revenue and costs in order to achieve the commercial objectives of the business unit and directorate.
  • Recruit and sustain a high performing and motivated team, with an open and positive working environment, and a culture of collaboration and trust.
  • Work directly with the Planning team, OEMs and Portfolio Management team to deliver effective and safe preventative and corrective maintenance across all wind farms in assigned region with well planned and efficiently deployed resources.
  • Working with Training experts, ensure that all aspects of the Regional team's training is planned and executed to support safe, compliant and effective operations.

What do you need to be great at this role?

You're an experienced professional with a qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering (HND level or equivalent experience). You bring a solid grasp of engineering principles and a strong safety mindset, ideally with IOSH or NEBOSH certification.

You've worked in wind turbine environments and understand the risks and challenges involved. You're confident managing budgets and third-party service contracts, and you're familiar with UK Wind Turbine Safety Rules and HV operating procedures. Above all, you're a collaborative leader who thrives on building high-performing teams and delivering results.

You'll need positive leadership and excellent communication skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to manage complex operations across multiple sites. You'll role model our values showing passion, resolve and openness and we'll work together as one team in our ambition for growth.

Your technical expertise will be matched by your ability to inspire teams and drive performance.

Location: England and Wales. You'll be regularly visiting a number of our keys sites including Durham, Carlisle, Aberystwyth and Peterborough.
