Careers at Helion Energy

We are a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, with the mission to build the world's first fusion power plant, enabling a future with unlimited clean electricity. Our vision is a world with clean, reliable, and affordable energy for everyone.

Since Helion's founding in 2013, we have raised over $1 billion from long-time investors such as Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group as well as new investors SoftBank and Lightspeed to propel us forward. Our last prototype, Trenta, completed 10,000 high-power pulses and reached plasma temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius (9 keV). We are now operating Polaris, our next prototype on the path to the world's first fusion power plant.

This is a pivotal time to join Helion. You will tackle real-world challenges with a team that prizes urgency, rigor, ownership, and a commitment to delivering hard truths - values essential to achieving what no one has before. Together, we will change the future of energy, because the world can't wait.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Electrical Engineering Intern at Helion, you'll design and fabricate both analog and digital electronic circuits, including op-amp, passive and active filter circuits, along with PCB design and validation. You'll also drive the development of next-generation, in-house data acquisition systems and electronic instruments to support our ongoing innovation. This internship offers hands-on experience, solving real-world engineering problems that are crucial to deploying fusion energy to the world. This is a 12-week onsite internship at our Everett, WA office.

You Will

  • Perform qualification and testing plans on new or modified designs
  • Support senior electrical engineers in legacy design updates and documentation
  • Fix hardware issues as they arise on integrated fusion generators
  • Learn from historical engineering approaches, design novel hardware, and test your solutions
  • Apply both engineering first-principles and method-based thinking to challenging problems
  • Learn from experts to expand your engineering skillset and domain knowledge

Required Skills

  • Ability to work full time, onsite in Everett, WA for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks during summer 2026
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Worked with board layout and circuit simulation tools (e.g. KiCAD, LT Spice, Altium)
  • Worked with designing analog and digital circuits
  • Experience applying engineering principles (e.g. making design trades while communicating progress and blockers)
  • Ability to safely work with higher voltages, such as building AC or with high voltage (1- 10 KVDC) power supplies, and familiarity with electric and magnetic fields

Base Pay

  • $30 / hour
