Ameresco has an immediate opening for an Instrument and Controls Engineering Manager based in Charlotte, NC. This position is responsible for the oversight of design, implementation, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems for our renewable natural gas, natural gas generation, and CHP projects. This role requires a candidate with a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Management: Lead and manage the Instrument and Controls Engineering team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure project success and professional development.
- Project Oversight: Oversee the design, development, and implementation of instrumentation and control systems for various projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise in the selection, configuration, and integration of control systems, including PLCs, SCADA systems, and DCS.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and reliability of instrumentation and control systems through rigorous testing, validation, and commissioning processes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and integration of control systems.
- Budget and Schedule Management: Develop and manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of engineering solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all instrumentation and control systems comply with relevant safety standards and regulations.
- Acceptance Testing: Coordinate and occasionally participate in control system checkout and commissioning at fabrication shops and new project construction sites.
- Ability to travel as needed to support projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering.
Additional Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Experience in managing large-scale engineering projects, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget is required.
- Experienced with schematic wiring diagrams, SCADA systems, DCS, and other control system technologies. Strong understanding of process control principles and instrumentation.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team of engineers, with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex control system issues.
