The Electrical & Instrumentation Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Wärtsilä diesel power plant and offshore installations by maintaining, troubleshooting, commissioning, and continuously improving all electrical, automation, and instrumentation systems.
The role provides specialized technical expertise to prevent unplanned outages, ensure system integrity during installation and commissioning, optimize equipment performance, and support compliance with Wärtsilä QEHS standards-thereby contributing directly to plant availability, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
Your main responsibilities are
- Perform electrical, automation, and instrumentation field service activities on Wärtsilä installations, including offshore power plant applications, in accordance with Wärtsilä technical standards and site procedures.
- Plan, execute, and document installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities, including inspections, functional checks, loop testing, and system verification for power plant projects and upgrades.
- Conduct maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and commissioning of Wärtsilä VASA and W32 automation and control systems, including UNIC and WOODWARD platforms, ensuring correct configuration and system reliability.
- Perform maintenance, repairs, and commissioning of Alfa Laval control systems for Lube Oil and Fuel Oil Separators, as well as other associated Alfa Laval equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and control system faults by interpreting electrical and control drawings, adjusting parameters, replacing defective components, supporting trial runs, and verifying system performance against design and operational requirements.
- Prepare accurate and timely technical documentation, including service reports, procedures, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports, maintenance strategies, and inputs to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support reliability and availability improvement initiatives by analyzing system performance, identifying recurring issues, and recommending corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure full compliance with Wärtsilä Quality, Environment, Health, and Safety (QEHS) requirements, site safety rules, and applicable regulatory standards during all work activities.
- Maintain professional communication with customers and stakeholders by providing technical support, clear reporting, and timely updates to ensure customer confidence and satisfaction.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and project teams to ensure effective execution of work, knowledge sharing, and alignment with operational objectives.
- Carry out other related duties as may be assigned from time to time to support operational reliability, project execution, and business requirements.

Education and Professional Credentials
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering, or an equivalent relevant technical background.
- Professional license or certification is an advantage.
Experience
- Five (5) Years of proven experience in an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) or automation service role, preferably within power generation, marine, or industrial environments.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with automation, control systems, and electrical equipment in power plant or engine-based installations.
- Working knowledge of 4-stroke engine systems, automation platforms, and power generation processes, including auxiliary and balance-of-plant systems.
Technical Competencies
- Strong understanding of electrical, control, and automation systems related to diesel power plants and associated equipment.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, control logic, and technical documentation.
- Experience in troubleshooting, commissioning, and maintaining complex E&I systems to ensure operational reliability.
Language and Communication Skills
- Good command of English (written and spoken) to effectively communicate with customers, project teams, and technical stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Work Location and Availability
- Willingness to be assigned in Masbate, anywhere in the Philippines, and internationally as required.
- Availability for short-notice service calls, emergency response, and project support.
