Job Description

The Quality Engineer supports the establishment, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) in a manufacturing startup environment. This role plays a key part in building structured quality processes from the ground up and ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949 (or equivalent quality standards). The position works closely with cross-functional teams, including Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, EHS, and China-based teams, to ensure effective document control, audit readiness, and smooth quality system execution during factory ramp-up and mass production.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support the setup, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) in a new manufacturing facility.
  • Manage document control across all departments, including SOPs, work instructions, quality manuals, procedures, policies, forms, and records.
  • Ensure documentation complies with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 requirements and internal quality standards.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to collect, review, revise, and release controlled documents in alignment with production and engineering needs.
  • Support internal audits, external audits, and certification audits, including preparation of audit materials and follow-up on findings.
  • Assist with CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) tracking and documentation related to audit or process gaps.
  • Support change management activities related to process updates, engineering changes, and document revisions.
  • Maintain document version control, traceability, and record retention in accordance with quality system requirements.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on quality system processes and document control procedures.
  • Support quality system readiness during factory startup, production ramp-up, and continuous improvement phases.
  • Collaborate with global and China-based teams to ensure alignment of quality standards and documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a quality system, quality engineering, or process-related role.
  • Basic knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or similar quality management systems.
  • Experience with document control, including SOPs, work instructions, and quality records in a manufacturing setting.
  • Prior exposure to new factory startup, production ramp-up, or process standardization is a strong plus.
  • Ability to communicate in both English and Chinese (Mandarin), verbally and in writing, to support collaboration with China-based teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, evolving manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with electronic document management systems is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, hands-on mindset.
