Overview
Ameresco's Renewable Fuels Group is growing rapidly and seeking an accomplished Director, Products Specialist - Renewable Fuels to lead the company's commercial growth strategy, drive high-value origination, and oversee execution of complex fuels and environmental attribute transactions.
This senior-level commercial leadership role is ideal for a strategic, market-savvy, relationship-driven executive who can expand Ameresco's presence across voluntary and compliance markets in North America and abroad. The Director will leverage deep industry expertise, influential networks, and forward-looking market insight to grow Ameresco's RNG offtake portfolio while collaborating with executive and cross-functional teams to support project commercialization, portfolio optimization, and long-range commercial strategy.
Responsibilities
- Lead Ameresco's RNG origination strategy and oversee execution of high-value spot and structured RNG transactions across global voluntary and compliance markets.
- Set the commercial vision for expanding Ameresco's offtake portfolio and maximizing revenue across existing and emerging market segments.
- Build, manage, and grow a high-impact pipeline of strategic buyers, traders, compliance entities, and long-term commercial partners.
- Leverage senior-level industry relationships to drive major RNG and environmental attribute transactions.
- Identify and champion innovative commercial structures aligned with Ameresco's growth strategy and entrepreneurial culture.
- Serve as Ameresco's senior market expert, staying ahead of global policy developments affecting RIN markets, LCFS crediting programs, voluntary market pricing, and international compliance trends.
- Provide executive-level market intelligence, pricing analyses, commercial forecasts, and strategic recommendations.
- Oversee navigation of environmental attribute tracking systems and ensure integrity of RNG chain-of-custody logistics.
- Ensure compliance with ISCC certification requirements and environmental attribute (EA) platform standards.
- Lead and oversee complex negotiations for major RNG offtake contracts, environmental attribute transactions, and structured commercial products.
- Evaluate and approve commercial risk positions, value drivers, and multi-scenario economic analyses for portfolio-level decision making.
- Partner closely with Legal, Finance, Engineering, Program Management, and Operations leadership to structure bankable, scalable agreements.
- Deliver high-quality proposals, commercial analyses, term sheets, and executive briefing materials.
- Collaborate with development and program leadership to align commercial strategies with project timelines, financial objectives, and portfolio growth.
- Support long-term strategic planning, portfolio optimization, and commercial positioning or Ameresco's renewable fuels business.
- Represent Ameresco as a senior executive at industry events, conferences, panels, and regulatory or market working groups.
- Travel to customer sites, industry conferences, project locations, and partner meetings approximately 40-50% of the time, depending on business needs and market activity.
- Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Energy, Economics, or related field.
- 15+ years of progressive experience developing, marketing, and providing consulting services in complex renewable fuels, energy efficiency, renewable technology programming or other related fields.
- Proven executive-level track record of leading, negotiating, and closing large-scale RNG deals and multi-party commercial agreements.
Additional Qualifications
- Deep expertise in North American RNG markets (voluntary + compliance).
- Extensive senior-level network of RNG buyers, brokers, compliance entities, and strategic market stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of physical natural gas logistics, pipeline quality standards, and chain-of-custody processes.
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $161,000-$233,000 (presented in good faith). In addition to base pay, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, and may be eligible for performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity, depending on the role.
