What They Do
AEG Power Solutions is a privately owned international manufacturer of power supply systems and services, specializing in uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), power conversion, and related technologies for critical applications. The company has roots tracing back over a century to the original AEG founded in 1887 as Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft in Germany (source: bnamericas.com). The modern entity evolved from AEG's power division, boasting over 60 years of experience in power electronics and UPS by the early 21st century. AEG Power Solutions operates under the ownership of 3W Power S.A. since September 2018, with a focus on delivering reliable power solutions across various sectors.
The company's core technology emphasizes power electronics, grid integration, and conversion systems, including AC and DC uninterruptible power supplies, battery chargers, rectifier systems, and power inverters. AEG Power Solutions does not directly engage in renewable energy generation but provides customized solutions for energy storage and critical applications (source: sauerland.com). Their products ensure continuous power availability and safe operation for sectors such as oil and gas, power generation, industrial processes, transportation, IT/data centers, and renewables, including green hydrogen and energy storage.
Target markets span industrial and commercial power needs globally, with customer segments including critical infrastructure operators and heavy industries. AEG Power Solutions differentiates itself through its century-plus heritage of rugged reliability, world-class engineering, and a global service network that provides proximity support (source: highperformr.ai). The company stands out in competitive positioning for its specialized AC/DC expertise and solutions like power management and control systems, serving as a key supplier in high-reliability niches amid broader players in UPS and power conversion.
Projects & Track Record
AEG Power Solutions has been involved in notable projects, including supplying a specialized power supply solution for Norsk e-Fuel's Alpha plant in Mosjøen, Norway. This facility produces sustainable aviation fuels (eFuels) using renewable energy and CO2 capture, with AEG's technology enabling the power conversion process (source: highperformr.ai). The company leverages over 100 years of power systems manufacturing experience, focusing on energy storage and grid-related applications. While specific capacities, costs, or completion years for additional named projects are not detailed in available records, AEG Power Solutions has established a strong track record in delivering reliable power solutions across various sectors.
Recent Developments
In the last two years, AEG Power Solutions announced a significant power supply contract for Norsk e-Fuel's Alpha plant, emphasizing its role in green hydrogen and eFuels production (source: highperformr.ai). Leadership updates include Dr. Peter Wallmeier's return as Chief Technology Officer in November 2022, bringing over 25 years of experience in power electronics from prior roles at Infineon and Delta.
