We are currently recruiting a Contracts & Procurement Director to join our construction team in Brisbane.

About the Role

As the Procurement & Contracts Director, you will oversee the procurement of all construction contracts (including EPC & BOP) for Windlab development and construction projects.

The role will require travel to proposed project sites, site under construction and operational assets across Australia and to client meetings.

Duties include but not limited to

  • Procurement Strategy – Work with the Windlab executive team and development managers to develop sustainable, risk-based procurement strategies for Windlab’s supply chain that foster competitive tension and achieve Windlab’s corporate objectives.
  • Tendering – Manage the procurement of construction related contracts, including administration of tender procedures, tender evaluation based on a quantitative assessment of offers received and presenting recommendations to senior management. Ensure procurement process reflect the agreed strategy for the Project.
  • Continuous Improvement – Support improvements in procurement processes over time. Develop the procurement strategy for each project ensuring reduction of LCOE, sustainability, community content and best in class health & safety. Ensure an inclusive approach to such procurement strategy seeking 360° input from relevant departments and innovations in the procurement space to deliver a risk-optimised strategy for the project.
  • Contract Finalisation – Manage complex contract negotiations with suppliers whilst consulting on contract terms with legal advisors, Windlab executives, shareholders, and debt providers. Provide procurement recommendations to senior investment committees in a format that is appropriate for that committee.
  • Consultant Management – Manage the input of legal and other advisors, including efficient cost control and schedule management.
  • Technical Oversight – Manage and lead the input of technical advisors to procurement. Balance commercial and technical objectives. Identify key technical risks, e.g., grid connection, and cater procurement processes to mitigate risks.
  • Intelligence – Manage a database to capture Australian market intelligence and share this, together with feedback on supplier performance, when required.
  • Contract Knowledge – Standard forms of construction contract. In depth knowledge of the Australian construction market and supply chain. Alternative contract structures and procurement methods including Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) model. Good understanding of relevant Australian HSQE regulations
  • Schedule Discipline – Ability to maintain schedule for a tender through supplier engagement, relationship management and knowledge of achievable tender timeframes. Always be striving for ways to complete faster.

Qualifications Required

Relevant Degree in Engineering, Law or Similar
