Here’s what you’ll need

Are you looking for an exciting Senior Earthing and Electromagnetic Transients Engineer opportunity in Auckland? Jacobs Transmission & Distribution team deliver innovative consultancy engineering services for Substations and Transmission Line designs. Clients view us as a trusted adviser with the ability to support business requirements on time and on budget. This opportunity would suit someone who is passionate about liaising with clients and engineers, locally and globally, to enable the seamless delivery of design packages. Some other components of the role include:

  • Engage in the development of deliverables, attend, and participate in project and client meetings.
  • Support a key infrastructure transport project in Auckland, providing rail earthing specialities and communicating with site based contractors.
  • Develop commercial skills through forging relationships with key client accounts in sectors such as utilities, mining, industrial/processing, water/wastewater, rail and infrastructure and provide technical input for bid preparation.
  • Conduct studies on conductor selection, lightning performance, insulation coordination, corona effects, Earth Potential Rise (EPR), Low Frequency Induction (LFI), Electric and Magnetic Fields (EMF), Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), and Electromagnetic Transients (EMT).
  • Perform on site activities like site inspections, observations, and testing such as soil resistivity, off frequency current injection testing, EMF and EMI.
  • Utilise CDEGS and PSCAD software packages.
