Summary
The Civil Engineer will provide support for various geotechnical and engineering design for commercial and industrial projects in the Energy and Renewable Energy Projects in Texas. Primary responsibilities include to assist with engineering design for site development associated with commercial and non-commercial clients in the energy and renewable energy industries. Tasks would include civil engineering design and analysis, data review, proposal and report preparation as required. Additional responsibilities could also include site inspection for civil design aspects for certain projects and associated regulatory compliance.
Your Role
- Organize and supervise project work for civil engineering design projects.
- Prepare engineering design analysis, calculations and recommendations for impoundments, site developments including grading and drainage, levees, embankments, etc.
- Preparation and/or review of site grading and drainage plans.
- Develop work plans, reports and proposals for various types civil engineering projects and assessment projects.
- Prepare engineering cost estimates.
- Review of construction monitoring observations and testing as needed.
- Fieldwork will be required occasionally for inspection of sites, facilities, existing or as constructed.
- Technical report preparation.
- Proposal preparation and cost estimates as needed.
- Mentoring graduate engineers.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in Civil, Construction or Geotechnical engineering from a four-year ABET accredited engineering program required. A master’s degree is a plus.
- 2-8 years of related experience to demonstrate candidates’ ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Qualified candidates must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and be able to apply for the Principles and Practices of Engineering Exam and to be licensed in the State of Texas within two years.
- Proficient with software such as AutoCAD, Civil3d, Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, etc., or similar.
- Knowledge and experience with Bentley software packages including OpenFlows WaterCAD and StormCAD and USACE HEC-HMS or HEC-RAS is a plus.
- Candidate must be highly motivated; customers focused and work well in a team environment.
- Candidate must also have the ability to manage and lead project tasks. Must possess client interaction and organizational skills.
- While this position does not require regular travel, the candidate must be able and available for travel periodically during a year and to project sites via land or air and must possess a valid drivers’ license in good standing. Travel is primarily within the State of Texas and New Mexico.
- A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
