Job Summary

Support complex, multi-year projects that have been awarded through one or more of NYSERDA's competitive and open-enrollment solicitations through the New Construction Team, which focuses on the new construction, adaptive re-use, and gut rehabilitation market sectors. While the position will primarily support both existing and future projects selected through the Buildings of Excellence Competition (BOE) for multifamily projects, management of legacy open-enrollment housing and commercial projects will also be required. Working as part of a broader project management team, the contractor will be expected to complete secondary technical review of documents submitted by project teams, which may include modeling and analysis based on specific third-party standards on behalf of NYSERDA. General project management, ranging from completing contracting tasks through to project termination or closeout, is also anticipated.

Job Tasks

  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure they effectively assemble the technical documentation required for each of the current 65 (and future anticipated) awarded BOE projects.
  • As part of the broader project management team, complete administrative project management tasks including deliverable review and invoice approval, and project closeout including terminations when needed.
  • Complete periodic technical review of workbooks, reports, and documentation submitted to NYSERDA following completion of the primary 3rd party standards' technical review.
  • As project teams submit revisions to submittals for multi-year projects, cross reference multiple documents and multiple versions of documents to verify consistency the project's as-designed and as-built condition.
  • Identify information or analysis that can be made available for program-wide or project-specific case studies, working in collaboration with the New Construction team.
  • Build relationships with project team members (developers/owners as well as design team and/or energy consultants supporting team) to obtain required project data in preferred format in timely fashion.
  • Maintain project databases that track critical elements including building attributes, construction schedule, and deliverable submittals

Required Skills

  • Bachelors required; Masters degree a plus but not required
  • Have a technical understanding of advanced building design, energy efficient equipment, distributed energy resources, and renewable energy systems.
  • Have experience with or working knowledge of building performance standards including ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G, ANSI/RESNET/ICC-301-20XX, Phius, or PHI.
  • Have a solid understanding of, and experience with, review of energy modeling outputs and resulting data based on those standards listed just above, and the related feedback submitted to NYSERDA by each of the listed building performance standards technical reviewers.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of and experience with review and use of the DOE/PNNL 90.1 Performance-based Compliance Form, ERI Reports, and Phius/PHI documentation; and have a basic familiarity with the underlying modeling tools relied on for each of the related standards.
  • Possess the ability to manage and report on data in multiple databases including Salesforce and Excel-based tools.
  • Have experience providing general project management support for long-term new construction or building projects, ranging from data entry, deliverable tracking, and invoice approval via online database to outreach to project teams.
