We are a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, with the mission to build the world's first fusion power plant, enabling a future with unlimited clean electricity. Our vision is a world with clean, reliable, and affordable energy for everyone.

Since Helion's founding in 2013, we have raised over $600 million from investors such as Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group to propel us forward. Our last prototype, Trenta, completed 10,000 high-power pulses and reached plasma temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius (9 keV).

Now we are working toward Polaris, which will be the first machine to demonstrate electricity from fusion, making this a great time to join Helion! Bring your skills, experiences, and determination to make a difference in the world. Together, we can make a future with unlimited clean electricity from fusion a reality.

What You Will Be Doing

We are looking for a Health Physicist to work with radiation, radioactive materials, radiation survey equipment, and team members unfamiliar with these subjects as we build Polaris and future fusion generators. You will be part of our Radiation Safety and Nuclear Science (RaSNS) team. The RaSNS team includes radiation safety, nuclear engineering, and materials engineering contingents. As part of the radiation safety contingent of RaSNS, you will interact with all teams at Helion and work directly with many partner teams. • Work with a team to perform typical health physicist functions such as dosimetry, leak tests, wipe tests, general surveying, and preparing operating procedures
  • Communicate with team members who are unfamiliar with radiation and health effects

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or equivalent expertise in related disciplines (e.g., nuclear engineering, physics)
  • 2+ years of hands-on work with radioactive material
  • Fundamental understanding of types of radiation and their relative health effects
  • Education in applying understand of radiation for the purpose of radiation protection
