Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer (f/m/x) driven by the quality and pragmatism of their work. Eager to work in a fast-paced technology scale-up, share their knowledge and experience with our team, and continue their own development sparring with colleagues.
Key goals
- Develop dockerized web services in Python (Flask, SQLAlchemy), PostgreSQL, Kubernetes & Helm.
- Support research engineers with data infrastructure and data pipelines for our latest ML tech.
- Collaborate with colleagues from frontend, backend, optimization and ML.
- Drive and own feature implementation for in-time delivery.
- Deliver well-tested production components using a pragmatic choice of best practices.
Your profile
- At least 6 years’ professional experience delivering scalable and maintainable backend applications.
- Experience with event-based architectures & message brokers (e.g. Kafka, NATS, RabbitMQ).
- Experience with Python, or similar dynamically typed stacks and strong motivation to learn Python.
- Solid understanding of software design for data-manipulation and distributed systems.
- Excellent communication in English and the ability to work in an agile, cross-functional environment.
Differentiators/nice-to-haves
- (Big) Data (Platform) engineering experience.
- DevOps/ML-Ops experience (e.g. MLFlow).
- Previous experience collaborating and supporting data / optimization / machine learning engineers.
- Orchestration and ETLs tech (e.g. Spark, Delta Lake, Airflow, Argo Workflows, Celery, Luigi, Dask).

Salary
We offer market conform salaries with appropriate payment based on individual skills and experience. For this position, for candidates with 8+ years’ experience and fulfilling the above-mentioned must-haves & majority nice-to-haves, we envision a yearly (fulltime) salary ranging 75,000 to 85,000 EUR.
