Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Technology Systems and Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is responsible for providing network and server support, problem escalation services, and delivering innovative solutions for AGL’s Operational Networks and OT (Operational Technology) Infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Server Management - Provide technical leadership for application and hardware components of the Operational Network. Support operating system and application configuration, and manage remote access services.
  • Network Systems Support - Lead continuous development initiatives to improve network services and capabilities. Develop and maintain network documentation and proactively monitor network systems.
  • Operational Network Systems Security - Collaborate with the Operational Technology CyberSecurity team to uplift cybersecurity across OT assets
  • Physical Hardware Deployments - Scope requirements for new network and compute systems, and manage on-premise installation and commissioning
  • Compute Systems - Install, configure, and monitor new systems, providing technical advice on capabilities and capacity.
  • Change Management - Manage scheduling of system outages to minimize business disruption and follow change management procedures.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment - Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment Systems and goals.

This role requires travel to various sites across Australia, approximately once a month for up to a week. Travel typically includes 2-3 days dedicated to deployments. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary or equivalent qualifications in IT, Network Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or similar.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT Administration or Engineering roles.
  • Advanced knowledge of routing and switching (VLAN, Spanning Tree, OSPF, BGP, Link Aggregation).
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Platform (Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, WSUS).
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware Platform) and Storage Area Networks (SAN).
  • Knowledge of remote access technologies and firewalls (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto).
  • Familiarity with IT security principles, risk management, and backup/recovery methodologies.
