As a Team Lead II, Packaging, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the packaging operations for solar products. Your leadership will ensure that packaging standards are met, efficiency is optimized, and safety protocols are adhered to. You will lead a team of packaging associates while collaborating with production, logistics, and quality teams to streamline packaging processes, resolve any issues, and enhance overall productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership and Supervision: Lead, supervise, and motivate a team of packaging associates to ensure the timely and accurate packaging of products. Manage staffing, performance evaluations, training, and scheduling.
- Packaging Process Management: Oversee daily packaging operations to ensure products are packed and shipped in compliance with company standards and customer specifications. Ensure packaging is completed efficiently and meets all quality requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to improve packaging processes, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency. Introduce new techniques or equipment to optimize workflow and minimize errors.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including production, logistics, and quality control to ensure smooth flow of materials and packaging products. Address any issues related to packaging performance or product quality.
- Inventory Management: Monitor packaging material inventory levels, ensure adequate supplies, and coordinate with procurement or warehouse teams to ensure timely restocking. Minimize excess inventory and waste.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all packaging operations comply with safety guidelines, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the team.
- Training and Development: Train new and existing team members on proper packaging techniques, machinery usage, and safety protocols. Foster an environment of continuous learning and development.
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve issues related to packaging defects, equipment malfunctions, or any other obstacles affecting workflow. Provide solutions to minimize downtime.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of packaging activities, material usage, and inventory levels. Prepare reports on packaging performance, team productivity, and any issues encountered during operations.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree or higher in Operations, Manufacturing, or a related field is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in packaging or manufacturing operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience in the solar energy industry or similar manufacturing sectors is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of packaging materials, machinery, and processes.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and process optimization.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and any relevant packaging management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with packaging automation or robotic systems.
- Knowledge of ISO standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement certifications.
