Job Description

First Solar is a leading global provider of comprehensive photovoltaic (PV) solar systems which use its advanced module and system technology. We are committed to a sustainable energy future and are looking for talented individuals to join our team.

Basic Job Functions

The Senior Manager, Project Development will be responsible for leading the development of utility-scale solar projects in the United States. This position will be responsible for managing the project development process from site identification through commercial operation. The Senior Manager, Project Development will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that projects are developed in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in project development, project management, or related field
  • Experience in the renewable energy sector, particularly solar, is preferred
  • Strong understanding of the project development process, including permitting, interconnection, and financing
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects and teams

Required Skills/Competencies

  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of utility-scale solar projects from site identification through commercial operation
  • Manage the project development process, including permitting, interconnection, and financing
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that projects are developed in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Develop and manage project budgets and schedules
  • Prepare and present project updates to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Identify and mitigate project risks

Travel

  • Travel may be required to support project development activities

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use a computer and other office equipment

Language Requirements

  • English (required)
