We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Engineer to support production and ensure world-class quality standards at our Contract Manufacturers (CMs) in Atlanta, GA, with occasional travel to other Suppliers and Contract Manufacturers. In this role, you will drive improvements, mitigate risks, and lead containment actions to maintain high-quality standards with a focus on PCBA production. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in de-risking production processes and is passionate about continuous improvement. You will be instrumental in communicating and coordinating with the CM, pushing for enhancements, and supporting both manufacturing and engineering teams.

- Act as the primary point of contact for all production-related quality issues at the Atlanta and Monterrey CM sites.
- Support on-going PCBA production and test issues
- Lead containment actions as needed to maintain production quality and mitigate risks.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on quality issues, and establish and verify Corrective Actions at CMs.
- Lead investigations into failures and determine Root Cause Analysis.
- Travel to CM sites and suppliers, up to 50-75% of the time, to oversee production quality and support improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives at CMs, ensuring adherence to production quality standards and de-risking manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with the CMs to improve manufacturing processes, optimize workflows, and enhance production efficiency.
- Develop and implement inspection procedures for critical dimensions and sampling plans for Incoming and Outgoing Quality Control (IQC/OQC) at CM and supplier facilities.
- Evaluate supplier performance, analyze quality data, and generate metrics to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) by identifying potential quality risks at CMs during all phases of the product life cycle.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering and Program Management, to provide feedback on manufacturability (DFM) and ensure smooth production processes.
- Review and approve Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications, providing feedback based on best practices and quality standards.
Desired Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering with a focus on PCBA production and high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Proven track record in de-risking production processes and driving improvements in a CM setting.
- Strong knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) with experience in analyzing data and implementing controls
- Strong knowledge of PCBA manufacturing processes, with hands-on experience in metrology, inspection methods, and failure analysis techniques.
- Expertise in Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Geometric Design and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience with root cause analysis, structured problem-solving techniques such as Ishikawa, 5-Why, and 8D methodologies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to drive improvements at CMs and work closely with engineering and program management teams.
- Certified Quality Engineer, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, or other relevant certifications preferred.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as needed.

Our Compensation Philosophy
Our goal is to ensure that all Lunar Energy employees are fairly compensated. Please note that the salary range information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position provided pursuant to the Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act for California applicants. The salary range estimate for this position depending on level of experience is $90,000-$130,000 USD
The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package & benefits, will be at the company’s sole discretion, and determined by factors including but not limited to years of experience, job level, geographic location, and other relevant business considerations.
