The Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (Climate Act) has created the most aggressive climate change goals in the nation and requires an ambitious agenda that blends proven catalysts with innovative approaches while operating across a broader energy arena that is rapidly evolving. New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) is a driving force in realizing this agenda. NYSERDA works with stakeholders that span residents, business owners, developers, community leaders, local government officials, universities, utilities, investors, entrepreneurs, and more, to develop, invest, and foster conditions that:

Job Overview
The Assistant Project Manager / Project Manager will have a role in supporting the team with planning, developing and managing interventions and strategies that overcome market barriers, encourage private investment and accelerate the scale and penetration of clean energy. The Assistant Project Manager / Project Manager will serve as a resource to program teams in the design and development of programs to reach market opportunities. The Assistant Project Manager / Project Manager will manage tasks, initiatives, projects and/or stakeholder relationships associated with the teams’ programs, program performance, and other interventions introduced into the market, as applicable.
Primary Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of interventions that leverage opportunities for energy efficiency and decarbonization projects in the Clean & Resilient Buildings sector
- Learn from managing projects and other assignments with a focus on gaining the ability to contribute to the understanding of market barriers and program participation experiences that can lead to program and customer experience improvements
- Oversee the work of consultants and contractors including writing statements of work, issuing contracts, budgeting, and invoicing
- Serve as liaison with external project managers and other NYSERDA staff to support development and utilization of Clean & Resilient Buildings team internal data resources
- Develop acumen to engage with identified stakeholder groups
- Engage as needed with program resources and market actors, which may include homeowners or building owners, property managers, facility operators, architects, engineers, energy service providers, government agencies or contracted support
- Represent NYSERDA at meetings and events with external stakeholders
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on issues pertaining to the intervention strategy you are working on
- Contribute to a team culture of openness and collaboration
- Support the development of tools, dashboards and data analysis to support the Clean and Resilient Buildings portfolio of programs and strategies
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- For Assistant Project Manager (Salary range: $68,660-$93,946):
- A Bachelor's degree with excellent academic performance and 3 years of relevant experience
- For Project Manager (Salary range: $76,051-$127,474):
- A Bachelor's degree with excellent academic performance and 5 years of relevant experience
- Ability to demonstrate respect, equity and inclusive behavior and practices of a diverse workforce and community
- Experience with data management and agile software development preferred
- Understanding of buildings systems and technologies including high efficiency technologies like cold climate heat pumps
- Knowledge of energy management best practices,
- Exemplary project management skills with the ability to set priorities, develop and execute on a workplan, balance research, analysis, stakeholder engagement with pragmatism, and an action-bias to deliver activity in the market
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability with a proactive and collaborative style
- Exceptional organizational, time management and planning skills to successfully handle multiple projects or other assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability and appetite to learn and assimilate new information and think holistically through complex problems with technical and non-technical components
- Ability to work independently and cross-functionally with other teams
- Track record for building effective partnerships, facilitating consensus-building among multiple stakeholders
- Practiced presentation and interpersonal skills that resonate with audiences of different backgrounds; the ability to communicate persuasively, concisely and unambiguously in speech and writing
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
- For Assistant Project Manager: A Master’s/Advanced degree and 1 year of relevant experience, particularly a degree in engineering, sustainability, business administration, architecture or related field, or a related field is preferred.
- For Project Manager: A Master’s/Advanced degree and 4 years of relevant experience, particularly a degree in engineering, sustainability, business administration, architecture or related field, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience with data analysis and data visualization.
