Job Description

Adapture Renewables, Inc. is a leading developer, financier, engineer, builder, and operator of large utility-scale photovoltaic systems and battery energy storage systems. Leveraging our deep industry expertise, we deliver projects with exceptional speed, flexibility, and quality. Our dynamic Preconstruction team is seeking a skilled Estimator to contribute to our mission of building a sustainable future. Based in Oakland, CA, you'll join a company backed by KIRKBI, the private holding company of the Kirk Kristiansen family and the foundation of the LEGO® brand.

Overview

As an Estimator for large-scale utility solar projects, you will play a crucial role in the development and execution of solar energy initiatives. You will be responsible for estimating project costs, reviewing EPC bids, and providing valuable insights to support informed decision-making through early stage to late-stage development of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects.

Core Responsibilities

  • Cost Estimating:
    • Conduct initial cost estimates for large-scale solar utility and battery storage projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and other relevant expenses.
    • Analyze and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
    • Develop detailed cost breakdowns and contingency plans.
  • EPC Bid Review:
    • Prepare comprehensive bid packages, including technical specifications, pricing schedules, and contract terms.
    • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to gather necessary information for bid preparation.
    • Review and negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Risk Assessment:
    • Identify and assess potential risks and uncertainties associated with solar projects, such as site conditions, regulatory changes, and market fluctuations.
    • Develop mitigation strategies to minimize risks and protect project profitability.
  • Financial Analysis:
    • Conduct financial analysis of proposed projects, including NPV, IRR, payback period, and LCOE calculations.
    • Evaluate project feasibility and profitability based on financial metrics.
  • Data Management:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date cost databases and historical records.
    • Utilize data analysis tools to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve estimating accuracy.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
    • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, procurement specialists, and other stakeholders.
    • Present cost estimates and financial analysis in a clear and concise manner.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in estimating large-scale solar projects.
  • Strong understanding of solar PV technology, components, and installation processes.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, financial software).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
