Join the world's leading generator of wind energy as a Wind Technician at NextEra Energy. As a Wind Technician, you will be the critical front-line to ensure the safe and optimal performance of all wind farm operations. Your primary focus will be on the safe execution of field-based equipment maintenance and diagnostics, as well as ensuring long-term reliability and profitability of the wind turbines. This role is essential in maintaining the operational integrity of the wind farm, which includes performing regular preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on wind turbines and associated equipment. You will be responsible for understanding the mechanics of both electrical and hydraulic systems within the wind turbines, replacing mechanical and electrical components, and utilizing appropriate diagnostic tools to interpret fault reports and maintain power generation reports. In addition to technical responsibilities, you will implement Operation Safety Policy Instructions, conduct field work in compliance with OSHA regulations, and encourage good employee safety practices to drive an unparalleled employee safety culture. You will also participate in Business Lean Six Sigma processes and projects, recruit and develop other technicians, and support the site manager in all phases of safety and environmental reporting, financial reporting, and turbine availability. Collaboration with internal NextEra users will be key to developing and implementing operation-focused feedback and solutions for both planned and unplanned maintenance, improvement projects, and financial performance. Presenting a positive professional representation of NextEra Energy in the community and with customers is also a vital part of this role.
Responsibilities
- Perform regular preventative maintenance and repair on wind turbine power generation equipment
- Complete electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting
- Maintain all company supplied equipment, facilities, and tooling
- Apply basic understanding of the technical and process functions
- Manage own training schedules and meet all training requirements within designated time frames
- Meet attendance requirements
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Grad / GED
- 0+ years of experience
- Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
- Ability to climb a wind turbine up to 300 feet
- Post-Offer Functional Capacity Evaluation
