Job Description

The Trading Systems (ETRM) Analyst will support South Pole’s environmental commodities trading activities by managing and enhancing our trading and risk management systems. Sitting in the Financial Risk Management team, this role works at the intersection of ETRM (Energy Trading and Risk Management) platform, financial data, and inventory control. This is a fixed-term, hybrid position and part of a new team within the Financial Risk & Inventory Strategy department that is expanding South Pole’s trading capabilities.

Main tasks & responsibilities

  • Provide business-side support and maintenance for South Pole’s ETRM system, ensuring the needs of the trading and risk teams are met;
  • Together with the Data and Tech teams, develop and manage integrations between external data sources (e.g. commodity exchanges, pricing platforms) and internal systems;
  • Ensure the consistency, accuracy, and integrity of data flows from trading platforms into the company’s financial risk management and inventory control systems;
  • Work closely with Front Office, Finance and Tech teams to troubleshoot system issues, implement enhancements, and align system functionality with business requirements;
  • Collaborate on reporting and analytics dashboards to support risk monitoring and informed decision-making for the front office;
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of trading and financial risk management processes, supporting the growth of South Pole’s environmental commodities trading operations.

Requirements

Essential

  • 2–5 years of relevant professional experience in roles such as trading system support, financial risk analysis, or data integration;
  • Prior exposure to ETRM systems or similar trading platforms is important, though extensive specialization is not expected;
  • Familiarity with financial markets and risk metrics is also required;
  • Proficiency in SQL for data querying and management. Experience using Python for automation or data processing is an advantage;
  • Experience building reports or dashboards in Power BI (or a similar business intelligence tool) is preferred but not essential;
  • Familiarity with low-code development platforms (e.g. AppSheet) is an advantage;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and consistency;
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (trading, finance, etc.).
