Play a role in advancing Asia’s energy transition! Our Renewable Energy segment leverages strong execution and development capabilities to power a cleaner future.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the HSSE team, providing guidance and coaching to ensure continuous improvement and sustained HSSE performance across plant operations.
- Establish, implement, monitor and periodically review the HSSE Management System (HSSEMS) and Environmental & Social Management System (ESMS), including but not limited to policies, manuals, procedures, checklists, inspection frameworks, and related programs.
- Lead implementation and maintenance of HSSE certifications such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
- Monitor updates to Omani laws and regulations, as well as Group HSSE and ESMS requirements, and ensure full compliance through effective communication and implementation of necessary measures.
- Advise and support the Operations team in HSSE and ESMS matters, including liaison with local authorities and relevant institutions.
- Organize and lead HSSE meetings with internal teams, O&M contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Review and provide expert advice on Method Statement and Risk Assessments (MSRA) related to plant activities.
- Support corporate HSSE programs, including participation in HSSE committees, delivering training and onboarding, analyzing safety observations, and organizing safety campaigns, etc.
- Develop and maintain site-specific Emergency Response Procedures; plan and conduct drills as required by local regulations and group requirements.
- Serve as the Fire Safety Manager, ensuring all critical fire protection and life-saving equipment are regularly inspected and properly maintained.
- Oversee hazardous material management practices and ensure full compliance with legal and corporate requirements.
- Participate in relevant studies such as Process Hazard Analysis, Fire risk assessment, etc. to enhance plant safety and environmental compliance.
- Drive HSSE awareness and employee engagement initiatives, including training, safety inductions, and campaigns for high-risk activities.
- Lead or participate in incident investigations and ensure effective sharing of lessons learned and preventive measures.
- Investigate any HSSE or ESMS non-compliance incidents, identify root causes, and develop action plans for prevention and mitigation.
- Ensure compliance with HSSE and ESMS obligations outlined in EPC handover documentation and O&M contracts.
- Coordinate with O&M, technical, engineering, and external stakeholders on all HSSE and ESMS matters as necessary.
- Maintain and manage a non-conformance reporting and control system; ensure that corrective actions are effectively implemented and closed out.
- Supervise implementation of all HSSE and ESMS inspections and programs, and coordinate audits involving internal teams, contractors, and external parties.
- Report to the CEO (or relevant senior management) and provide ongoing support on all HSSE-related matters of the plant.
Qualification, Skills and Experience
- Solid understanding of ISO standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001) and relevant Omani laws, regulations, and compliance frameworks applicable to plant operations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks, identify improvement areas, and implement effective HSSE controls in an operational setting.
- Candidates with demonstrated expertise in regulatory compliance, process improvement, and the practical application of international standards in an O&M environment will have an added advantage.
