Job Description

Ulteig, and its affiliated companies, are hiring talented and motivated candidates for a Structural Design Engineer - Renewables role supporting utility-scale renewable energy projects. The selected candidate will engage with Ulteig's civil, structural, and electrical design teams and our clients to provide innovative, forward-thinking design solutions to facilitate the development, design, and construction of solar & storage projects.

What You'll Do

  • Assisting in the preparation of structural designs and drawings for solar foundations and support structures.
  • Conducting project specification research to determine applicable building codes and ensuring specific project requirements are addressed in the design.
  • Preparing calculations and drawings according to project specifications and applying department and relevant standards.
  • Coordinating with internal multi-disciplinary teams to address structural-related issues or concerns.
  • Providing drafting support using AutoCAD for structural design plans.
  • Assisting with deep foundation design, inspection, pile design, foundation design, and construction quality control.
  • Applying geotechnical and corrosion recommendations in designs.
  • Participating in project meetings and collaborating with team members to ensure effective communication and project progress.
  • Supporting the Project Discipline Lead in meeting essential deadlines and fostering effective collaboration among project team members and various design disciplines.
  • Reporting directly to the Project Discipline Lead and providing regular updates on project status.
  • Additional duties may include tasks beyond what is listed, such as special projects, assisting colleagues, or new initiatives. A willingness to adapt to changing priorities and support team efforts enhances collaboration and growth opportunities.

What We Expect from You

  • A bachelor's degree in structural or civil engineering is required.
  • 2 years of engineering experience.
  • Drafting and drawing experience (AutoCAD 2D).
  • Structural design and design codes (concrete, steel, and foundation design).
  • Structural analysis software experience.
  • LPILE experience is nice to have.
  • Preferred skills include knowledge of codes like ASCE 7 and software tools like AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid mode schedule; 3 days in the office, 2 days from home.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written English communication skills (CEFR level B2-C1). You should be comfortable articulating complex ideas and collaborating effectively within a global professional environment.
  • Must have authorization to work legally in Costa Rica for any employer.
