Job Description
The Supply Chain Manager will play a key part in the T3 plan, the postholder will confirm and accelerate SP Transmission (SPT) sustainability commitments. Furthermore, they will deliver, monitor and continuously improve SPT supply chain through effective management of suppliers to ensure environmental and sustainability targets are achieved and that ISO20400 principles are maintained.
Supporting delivery of the Sustainability and Environmental commitments within the RIIO-T2 £1.8bn and T3 £11bn Capex programmes:
- To the required timescales agreed in the business plan
- Setting strategies plans with all key stakeholders to ensure commitments are met
- Highlighting and addressing any blockers to achieving the commitments to management
What you'll be doing
- Support the specification of required products and services to facilitate sustainability improvements.
- Assist the review of contractor's environmental and sustainability tender documentation with particular emphasis on environmental and sustainability regulations and requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company and legislative sustainability policies including related contract requirements, via contribution to contracting process, auditing of contractor/supplier processes and liaising with various third parties.
- Identify and develop supplier performance processes in-line with ISO20400 principles.
- Drive supplier performance excellence across the company, through best practice sharing and through the communication of KPI/metric comparisons and benchmarks.
- Action and lead engagement across the business, ensuring supplier performance meets the needs of our existing and future requirements.
- Promote the continued implementation of our RIIO-ED2 commitments with our supply chain partners
- Manage Sustainability advisors to deliver our sustainability RIIO-T3 commitments
What you'll bring
The postholder will be a strong communicator (written and verbal) and be able to effectively present and report information to all, they will have good influencing and collaborative skills including working with third parties such as contractors.
It is essential that the individual has an understanding and awareness of key business drivers and commercial context in which SPEN operates.
To be successful, you will have:
- Degree level qualification, preferably in an environmental discipline.
- In depth knowledge of Supply Chain Management.
- Understanding of environmental legislation, regulatory guidance and standards.
- Understanding of the environmental and sustainability issues associated with supply chains and the methods to manage and reduce (e.g. ISO20400, PAS2080, BS8001).
- Sound planning and analysis skills - anticipate problems and plan solutions.
- Ability to plan and deliver work programmes autonomously.
- Experienced in managing projects, staff and working as part of a project team.
- Have demonstrable experience in supplier performance development.
