Job Description
Are you ready to lead quality assurance on one of the UK's most significant renewable energy construction projects, helping to deliver large-scale solar, battery storage and grid infrastructure that will support a net zero future?
At EDF power solutions, we're helping to power the UK's transition to a low-carbon future through the delivery of Longfield Solar Farm, one of the country's flagship renewable energy projects. As a Construction Quality Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring our major construction partners deliver to the highest quality standards. Your work will directly support the safe and reliable delivery of this landmark renewable energy project from pre-construction through to commissioning and commercial operation.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to take ownership of quality management across a complex infrastructure project that includes large-scale solar PV, battery energy storage and a 400kV substation. The Longfield project forms an important part of the UK's journey towards net zero and represents one of the most significant solar developments in EDF's UK portfolio.
You'll shape project quality arrangements, influence contractors and suppliers, and help drive excellence throughout the construction lifecycle. Working on a high-profile project backed by EDF's extensive global renewable energy expertise, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to infrastructure that will provide clean, secure energy for decades to come.
Location
Alongside a competitive salary and annual bonus opportunity, this role offers a hybrid working arrangement initially, with regular project meetings in our London office, providing the opportunity to collaborate closely with key stakeholders and delivery teams. From 2027, you'll transition to a full time, site-based role in Chelmsford, Essex, supporting the construction phase of this landmark project.
You'll lead a small team of quality engineers while working alongside procurement, engineering and construction specialists. From manufacturing inspections through to commissioning activities, you'll have a visible impact on project success while supporting continuous improvement across our quality assurance and quality control processes.

Who You Are
We're looking for a Construction Quality Manager who is organised, proactive and experienced in managing quality across complex construction projects. You'll be confident leading quality activities, reviewing contractor performance and working across multiple stakeholders. To be shortlisted, you need to offer...
- Degree-qualified in Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional qualifications and experience.
- Experience managing quality assurance and quality control activities across large-scale construction or infrastructure projects
- Experience leading, coaching and performance managing quality engineers or similar technical teams
- Experience working with contractors, consultants and advisors within regulated construction environments
- Strong working knowledge of NEC and/or FIDIC contracts and the application of quality requirements throughout the project lifecycle
- Experience developing and implementing project quality plans, surveillance arrangements and contractor quality documentation reviews
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations and construction quality governance requirements
- Experience planning and managing inspections, testing, commissioning witnessing and quality reporting activities
What You'll Be Doing
- Planning and managing construction quality activities from pre-construction through to commercial operation
- Leading and developing a small team of quality engineers across the project
- Developing and implementing project-specific quality plans and surveillance arrangements
- Managing contractor onboarding from a quality perspective
- Reviewing contractor and supplier quality management plans, inspection and test plans, method statements and quality reports
- Co-ordinating construction quality meetings and managing quality interfaces across multiple contractors
- Planning and managing independent manufacturing inspections for key equipment including PV modules, transformer stations and battery energy storage systems
- Undertaking construction quality inspections, commissioning witnessing and testing activities on site.
- Reviewing quality evidence associated with contractor payment milestones
- Supporting defect investigation, resolution and continuous improvement initiatives
