Job Description
As a key member of the Italian Project Delivery team, the Project Manager carries out the pre-construction and construction activities of Statkraft’s portfolio in Italy.
The successful candidate will be a good communicator with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and able to exercise initiative. You will be able to work independently whilst being a good team player, solution oriented and proactive with excellent time management skills.
Role and Responsibilities
In the context of the pre-construction and construction of large-scale Renewable Projects (Wind, Solar and Grid Services), Project Manager, throughout the coordination of a Project Team, is accountable of the project’s results in terms of Cost, Time, Quality and Safety during the procurement, pre-construction and construction phase, and your main responsibilities at a project level will include:
- Manage the construction of our renewable projects to include organizing, leading, and ensuring effective management and administration of the Projects.
- Plan, monitor and manage the project scope, program, budget, staff organization, quality, safety, and contract conformance throughout the project lifecycle, fulfilling the requirements of the approved Project Charter.
- Ensure efficient and reliable Hand Over processes with Project Development and Operation and Maintenance, elaborating and updating the relevant project’s deliverables during the project execution.
- Manage and coordinate integrated working of project workstreams (i.e. construction management, technical management, project controls, investment, procurement, HSSE, quality assurance and legal).
- Support procurement in the definition of the project’s procurement strategy and elaborate the procurement plan of the projects. Plan and coordinate the procurement process for equipment, works and services.
- Coordinate external consultants, contractors, and service providers, facilitating an efficient relationship between them and the internal project team. Manage contract claims and change order requests.
- Coordinating with financial and technical colleagues to determine optimal strategy for your projects ensuring techno-economic optimization of the project outcomes.
- Ensuring implementation of change, quality, and risk management procedures.
- The implementation of the Health, Safety and Environmental requirements, ensuring Project Health & Safety monitoring, and management of environmental project’s permitting prescriptions.
- Manage project compliance with applicable laws, regulations, codes, and standards.
- Manage efficient communication and co-ordination between project stakeholders (internal and external): organization of project’s Steerco, regular project’s meetings, recording of minutes and agreed actions, and implementation of general internal project reporting.
- Manage compliance with the Statkraft Way processes and reporting.
In a supporting capacity your responsibilities will also include:
- Negotiating service provider and equipment supplier agreements and EPC and O&M contracts.
- Keeping up to date with technology and market developments.
- Contributing to team operations, continuous improvement, and R&D.
- Representing Statkraft when engaging with project stakeholders and market contacts.
Qualifications
- Degree level qualification or equivalent in electrical, industrial, or mechanical engineering.
- Experience of at least 5 years in working in a similar field of managing renewable energy development projects (Wind, Solar and Grid Services) with a proven track record of delivering renewable/large scale infrastructure projects through construction.
- Having achieved or working towards achieving an industry accredited, project management professional qualification will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience of having full responsibility for management of project budgets and schedules from early-stage development to construction.
- Good technical understanding of renewable energy technology with strong experience of contracts and technical appendices for main technology supply contracts.
- Fluency in English – written and verbal – other languages will be an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), relationship building and good management skills including organisational ability and a target oriented; demonstrated ability to prioritize.
- Independent self-starter with a clear ability to manage a large workload, often providing support to processes managed by colleagues, while prioritizing tasks and effectively juggling competing deadlines.
- Excellent application of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project (or equivalent).
- You take pride in your field of work and the impact your projects have in creating a sustainable future. You have a demonstrably strong interest in renewable energy. You have a proven track record in effectively managing time, cost, and quality in the context of multi-million Euro infrastructure construction projects. You have an eye for detail and are process driven, but also respond well to changing circumstances and time-pressure challenges. You are an effective team leader and motivator. You are an effective negotiator. You enjoy a collaborative approach to working and are comfortable working both in-person and within a remote network of staff and across a portfolio of projects at any one time.
