Job Description

As a Learning Consultant at ScottishPower, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a skills-first and needs-driven learning culture, that drives organisational capability and future readiness. Partnering with Learning Partners and business stakeholders as well as centres of expertise within the wider Organisational Capability Team, you will translate current and emerging skill needs into integrated development strategies & plans that align with business priorities.

Your focus will be on performance consulting, robust needs analysis, skills framework design & implementation and closing critical skill gaps through targeted interventions, learning pathways and up-skilling programmes or initiatives. By enabling continuous development and fostering a skills-first and needs-driven mindset, you will ensure our workforce remains agile, capable, and prepared for the challenges of the rapidly evolving energy sector.

What you'll be doing

  • Conduct comprehensive and iterative learning needs analyses to identify current capability gaps and future skill requirements
  • Apply performance consulting methodologies to diagnose business challenges and recommend learning and non-learning solutions. Work closely with Learning Partners and business stakeholders to understand business priorities and translate them into effective integrated skill development strategies & plans
  • Hands on development and delivery of skills & capability projects, including up-skilling programmes and early careers programmes, using appropriate organisational development methodologies
  • Lead on the design, implementation, on-going adoption and maintenance of skill frameworks across a wide range of job families. Lead stakeholder engagement, focus groups, design thinking workshops and utilise other data gathering tools to understand diverse perspectives in design phases
  • Develop and drive change management plans to ensure sustainability of implementation across business; provide expert guidance on change management and transformation initiatives, supporting and coaching line managers where required
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to validate skill taxonomies, integrating frameworks into learning pathways and other people systems / processes and continuously refining them based on workforce analytics and emerging industry trends
  • Define learning pathways, sourcing or developing new learning solutions as required to assure all solutions are fit for purpose across capability areas, aligned to the principle of 70/20/10
  • Provide stakeholders with consultancy support to ensure solutions align with business plans and priorities and are in line with Iberdrola Group direction, learning model and values
  • Engage with external learning providers and vendors to source, curate, and tailor content that meets ScottishPower's standards and specific business needs
  • Provide scope and direction on the development of learning solutions and programmes and sign off final content with subject matter experts
  • Ensure that the performance of effective gap analysis and prioritisation of skill gaps feeds in appropriately to development planning and budgeting processes
  • Develop and present workforce capability analytics to enable data driven decision making
  • Use skills analytics, business data and workforce planning data to inform learning design and measure impact
  • Measure outcomes and evaluate business impact of all learning solutions using data, feedback and performance metrics; learn and iterate to continually improve and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Support managers and employees in adopting a skills-first mindset and needs-driven mindset and guide them in leveraging learning resources effectively

What you'll bring

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Significant demonstrable experience and knowledge of individual and organisational skills and capability development
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a large and complex organisation
  • Experience in skills-based learning and in identifying strategic learning needs
  • Experience in supporting budget identification and progression
  • Experience of engaging with and managing relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, and at differing levels across the organisation
  • Experience with design thinking methodology is highly desirable
  • A good understanding of skills infrastructure technologies would be advantageous

  • Strong consultancy skills
  • Ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels, actively listen and convey information clearly
  • Commercial acumen
  • Natural collaborator, skilled at influencing to get the best out of every project. Ability to gain acceptance of ideas in influencing and guiding others

  • Excellent proficiency in project management methodologies preferring to work in an agile manner
  • Ability to create comprehensive project plans, define scope, set realistic timelines and manage resources, effectively balancing priorities to meet milestones
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Can confidently provide valuable guidance regarding the introduction and execution of change, from a people perspective
  • Strong analytical skills to undertake root cause analysis and identify areas for improvement, opportunities for new learning solutions etc.
  • Strong data literacy skills. Ability to identify opportunities for value-adding data analysis to drive data-driven decision making

Minimum Criteria

  • Strong learning & consulting background in in a similar role, preferably in a large and complex organisation
  • Solid experience in learning and talent, proficient in analysing, designing, delivering capability frameworks and related projects
  • Change management proficiency to ensure sustainability of solutions
  • Stakeholder engagement and influence. Experience of coaching line managers and influencing senior management in commercial and training related decisions
  • Exceptional planning and organisational skills, to meet challenging deadlines and balance priorities
