Job Description

Position Summary

The Field Applications Engineer is a key contributor to Terabase's product development and deployment efforts. Working closely with R&D, manufacturing, and field operations teams, the Field Applications Engineer bridges the gap between engineering design and field execution. This role is hands-on and field-focused, ensuring that new technologies and systems are validated, optimized, and successfully implemented in large-scale solar project environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the bridge between product development and field construction teams, providing critical feedback to improve product design, manufacturability, and field performance.
  • Evaluate new products, tools, and assembly processes; provide technical recommendations to R&D and operations.
  • Support deployment, commissioning, and operation of Terabase Field Assembly Plants at solar project sites across the U.S.
  • Develop and deliver training for field crews and subcontractors on equipment, tools, and processes.
  • Support creation and optimization of crew training materials, manuals, and operational guides.
  • Assist in developing and refining installation methodologies, material handling processes, and field logistics.
  • Contribute to project planning, including work crew scheduling and cost estimation for labor, materials, and supplies.
  • Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting for automation, robotics, and other electromechanical systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and safety practices.
  • Experience with standard construction equipment and on-site operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and lead cross-functional teams, including construction crews.
  • Practical experience troubleshooting automation, robotics, or electromechanical systems.
  • Proven problem-solving ability-capable of evaluating new ideas quickly and identifying viable solutions.
  • Self-starter comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently to project sites nationwide.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on construction experience in utility-scale solar plants, including mechanical assembly and quality control.
  • Technical understanding of utility-scale PV racking systems-design, installation, and operation.
  • Experience with engineering, design, or installation of utility solar plants.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including NEC, ASCE, NABCEP, OSHA, UL, CAL Fire, and IEC.
