About the role
Are you an excellent people leader with a expertise in asset management and performance? Looking to apply your engineering expertise to the fast-growing renewables sector? Join AGL’s Renewables team as our Lead Engineer – Wind and help us shape the future of energy.
In this high-impact role, you’ll lead a team of engineers supporting 8 wind farms and 575 turbines across Victoria and South Australia. You’ll drive asset strategy, reliability, and performance – not just diagnosing issues, but partnering with operations to implement agile, forward-thinking solutions that keep our wind assets running efficiently and sustainably.
Location: Melbourne, Adelaide
Hybrid: 3 days in office / 2 days WFH | Travel required twice a month to SA & VIC wind farms

What you’ll be doing
- Lead and mentor a team of mechanical and electrical engineers, building capability and fostering a constructive, collaborative culture.
- Develop and maintain asset management strategies and plans aligned with ISO 55000 and AGL’s performance goals.
- Partner with site-based teams and leadership to assess technical issues, implement improvement plans, and support investigations (including RCA).
- Champion condition monitoring and asset performance programs, ensuring proactive reliability improvements.
- Support regulatory compliance, innovation initiatives, and capital projects that deliver value, safety, and operational excellence.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)
- Chartered or working toward CPEng and National Engineering Register registration
- Experience in power generation or heavy industry (oil & gas, plant, refinery experience welcome)
- Proven leadership of technical teams – ability to coach, guide and grow a high-performing group
- Strong communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills across technical and operational levels
- Solid understanding of asset management principles, including lifecycle, risk, and performance
- Project delivery experience – capital upgrades, emergent work, and condition-based maintenance
