Your impact
At Jacobs, our Power Solutions team is geared towards providing a more integrated approach offering end-to-end service to support our clients in energy networks, thermal generation, renewable generation and storage solutions space. We are helping our clients meet the challenges faced in countries and cities across the globe, providing innovative solutions from replacing conventional thermal power plants with renewable energy to developing demand side management strategies.
We are looking for Mechanical/Structural Inspectors who will perform the duties of the Owner's Engineer and supervise the execution of construction work on site.
This includes
- Acts as prime point of contact with the client for the mechanical-structural construction supervision aspects of the project, including progress reporting, safety, financial recommendations, quality control and design modifications.
- Builds a trusted relationship with the Project Manager and with the client & contractor's counterpart staff.
- Places an emphasis on safe construction practices (Beyond Zero) and on maintaining a high quality of construction - leads by example in driving safe practices on site.
- Uses effective project management and controls systems to regularly report on progress to the Project Manager.
- Monitors progress of construction against the program and takes steps to ensure the program is achieved.
- Ensures that the project quality control procedures are used for the supervision works and monitors it for improvement. Cooperates with audits required in accordance with the contract requirements and company internal systems.
- Review and comment on Contractor’s method statement indicating his proposed timing and phasing of various operations.
- Defines the scope of work of any sub-consultants and ensures that their employment is effectively administered.
- Review and audit any contractual claims raised by the Contractor for review and approval by the Employer.
- Contributes to the safety and build-ability reviews of the proposed designs.
- Evaluates, selects, and adapts construction management and control techniques, procedures, and criteria to suit job tasks, and devises and implements solutions to problems encountered.
- Ensures that the Construction Supervision team members effectively identify, manage and report project risks.
- Attends regular site meetings to review the completion of works by the contractor against the program and agreed performance objectives.
- Oversees the implementation of the works by the contractor to include areas covering contractual, commercial and technical matters relating to the works.
- Mentors’ junior members of the team.
- Acts as the focal point of contact between the office-based site-based teams.
Here's what you'll need
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Mechanical/Structure Inspector within the Power Plant sector.
- Registered Mechanical/Civil Engineer with valid Professional Regulation Commission License (PRC)
- Experience in Mechanical Inspections for Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with industry standards codes
- Willingness to travel and work on-site as required.
