Job Description
Eavor Technologies Inc. is looking for a Research Chemical Engineer to join our Technology Research & Development team. This dynamic role combines technical expertise with project management and strategic alignment. The successful candidate will play a key role in bridging research, product development, and business objectives—ensuring innovation initiatives are effectively managed from concept to execution. Responsibilities will also include oversight of intellectual property activities and the R&D budget.
Based in Calgary, Alberta, and working closely with a multidisciplinary, international team, you will help advance the development of the world’s first closed-loop geothermal system.
This permanent full-time, in-office position is located in Calgary, with limited travel required based on business needs.

Tasks
- Conduct research into the development or improvement of chemical engineering processes, reactions and materials
- Participate in interdisciplinary research and development projects
- Plan and manage budgets
- Review and adapt information regarding product innovations, competitors and market conditions
- Co-ordinate project
- Prepare funding and grant applications and proposals
Job Duties
- Project Management: Leading product development research; Create and maintain standardized project workflows for other research projects within the team in collaboration with project leads; Collaborate with leaders of each work stream and technical staff to ensure project milestones and deadlines are tracked and delivered
- Intellectual Property Management: Monitor and track patent action items, working closely with legal counsel and the technology team to ensure Intellectual Property (IP) deliverables and deadlines are met; Manage IP Committee process; Manage internal IP database
- Manage Finance Interface: Build 2025 R&D budget and track, report, and manage spending vs budget; Lead development of external funding applications for R&D; Budget projection and reporting
- Competitor Intelligence: Lead competitor analysis
- Documentation and Reporting
Some of What you Will Need
Must-Have Qualifications
- Earned doctorate (Ph.D) degree - Chemical Engineering
- Experience in materials science, chemistry, or a closely related field
- 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in geothermal energy research or in managing Geothermal research activities
- Proven experience in preparing and submitting funding applications to agencies such as Alberta Innovates, Emissions Reduction Alberta, NSERC, or equivalent

- Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association

Other: PhD in Chemical Engineering required; Experience in materials science, chemistry, or closely related field required; Minimum of 3 years managing research activities; Proven experience in preparing and submitting funding applications to agencies such as Alberta Innovates, Emissions Reduction Alberta, NSERC, or equivalent; Project management certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM) preferred; Proficiency with project management tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Miro, Jira, Notion, or similar preferred
