About the Role

The Technical Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering technical training programs that empower our employees with the skills and knowledge they need to excel. This position works closely with subject matter experts and key stakeholders to create training content that is up-to-date, relevant, and engaging. Additionally, it will oversee our apprenticeship program to ensure that apprentices receive comprehensive training and mentorship to succeed in their roles.

Accountable For

Designing, delivering, and evaluating on-the-job training programs, supervisor development courses, and apprenticeship initiatives tailored for operations teams.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain training resources: user manuals, troubleshooting guides, job aids, presentations, videos and hands-on assessments.
  • Teach technical skills using a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, workshops, hands-on demonstrations and skill assessments.
  • Assess employee performance and provide feedback and coaching to improve their technical understanding and proficiency.
  • Evaluate candidates through interviews and skill assessments for hire and enrollment into internal training programs.
  • Provide oversight for apprenticeship and internal training programs, ensuring effective implementation, mentorship, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production and quality teams to stay current on product updates and identify training requirements.
  • Be prepared to support production work during surge periods.
  • Ability to flex schedule to provide training coverage to various shifts as needed.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to ensure training content is relevant.
  • Produce training schedules and classroom agendas.
  • Ensure trainings records are up to date and readily available to operations staff.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience required.
  • Previous experience as a trainer or instructor delivering adult learning sessions preferred.
  • Experience with electrical circuits, AC/DC theory, automation and safety protocols.
  • Experience using learning management systems (LMS) is a plus.

Travel

  • Overnight/North America: Less than 10%

Working Conditions

  • Office Environment - Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Factory - The worker may be subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, vibration, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to temperature changes or exposure to chemicals. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, odors, dust, mists, and gases. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and lab coats. May be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Customer/Partner Locations - Employee may visit customer or partner locations that may be comprised of office, manufacturing floor, laboratory environments and construction sites depending on the location and reason for visit.
