Job Description

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented engineer to lead diagnostics and resolution of complex issues in high voltage battery systems. This role is critical to ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of energy storage technologies across projects.
Responsibilities
Commissioning
- Primary in-field technical responsibility for installation and startup of high voltage battery systems at customer sites
- Validate system integration with power electronics, thermal management, and BMS
- Perform functional and safety checks in accordance with industry standards
- Configure and calibrate system parameters using diagnostic software
Troubleshooting
- Diagnose faults in battery packs, modules, and Battery Management Systems (BMS)
- Analyze CAN logs, fault codes, and telemetry data to identify root causes
- Conduct on-site and remote support for field teams and customers
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement corrective actions
Documentation & Reporting
- Create commissioning protocols, troubleshooting guides, and service reports
- Maintain detailed logs of system performance and issue resolution
- Provide feedback to design and product teams for continuous improvement
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to high voltage safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Comply with standards such as UL 9540, IEC 62619, and ISO 26262

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Familiarity with energy storage systems, EV platforms, or grid-tied applications
- Experience with switchgears and OEMs
- Experience with firmware updates and embedded system diagnostics
- Knowledge of thermal management and cell balancing strategies
- Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system layouts
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or similar required.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience.
Travel
- Local Travel: 25-50%
- Overnight/North America: 25-50%

Working Conditions
- Factory - The worker may be subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, vibration, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to temperature changes or exposure to chemicals. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, odors, dust, mists, and gases. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and lab coats. May be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
- Customer/Partner Locations – Employee may visit customer or partner locations that may be comprised of office, manufacturing floor, laboratory environments and construction sites depending on the location and reason for visit.
