Job Description
Are you passionate about advancing health, safety, and the environment - and ready to make a real difference in the global energy sector? At Semco Maritime, we are looking for a dedicated HSE Specialist to support our growing portfolio of projects across offshore wind and related energy solutions. This is your chance to contribute to the green transition while ensuring the highest safety standards in an international and dynamic environment.
In our HSE department, we support both short- and long-term operations for onshore and offshore projects worldwide. To strengthen our team, we are seeking an HSE professional who is motivated by improving safety performance, building strong safety cultures, and supporting project teams in delivering safe, compliant, and sustainable solutions.
At Semco Maritime safety is a core value, and in this role, you will contribute to maintaining and promoting a strong safety culture while delivering innovative solutions. Above all, your work will make a real change for the global energy sector.
Your place of work will be at our Global HQ located in Esbjerg, the hub of the Danish energy industry, right on the waterfront - views do not get any better than this. The position is full-time, and you can expect regular site visits (on- and offshore - primarily as sole representative from HSE department) and occasional travel to other Semco Maritime locations. Around 25-30 travel days per year should be expected.
"As HSE specialists at Semco Maritime, we make a difference by keeping our colleagues safe and protecting the environment every day"
- HSE Specialist, Martin Gregersen
Your tasks & responsibilities
As an HSE Specialist, you will support multiple types of projects across Semco Maritime's divisions. You will collaborate closely with project managers, service leads, and operational teams to ensure that all activities are planned and executed within the HSE requirements.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Acting as HSE focal point for onshore and offshore projects across Europe and beyond.
- Supporting development of risk assessments, method statements, and work preparations.
- Conducting HSE site visits, audits, and inspections - both onshore and offshore.
- Participate in incident reporting, investigations, and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Provide training and awareness sessions to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Supporting tenders and project planning with HSE input.
- Contributing to continuous improvement of HSE processes, tools, and standards across the company.
Your profile & qualifications
To succeed in this role, you are motivated by making a positive impact, ensuring safety in complex project environments, while working independently and utilizing your strong stakeholder management skills during for example audits, site inspections and incident reporting. You are proactive, structured, and solution-oriented, and you thrive in a role that combines technical knowledge with people engagement.
We imagine that you have:
- A degree or diploma in HSE, engineering, or another relevant discipline
- At least 3-5 years of working with HSE, preferably from offshore wind, oil & gas, renewables, or related energy sectors.
- Offshore experience will be considered as an advantage.
- Knowledge of international HSE standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels - from clients to offshore technicians.
- Fluency both written and verbal in English (Danish or German is an advantage).
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work independently when required.
