Your new role
As our new Senior Project Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying and developing new opportunities, with a particular focus on BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) projects across Spain. Your work will play a key role in advancing Europe's green transition and shaping its energy future. While your primary responsibility will be to secure new greenfield opportunities, you will also be expected to pursue opportunities for the acquisition of ready-to-build (RTB) projects.
A typical day
- Develop, manage, and continuously expand a robust pipeline of BESS opportunities to meet business growth targets.
- Source and assess new project sites through in-house tools, GIS mapping, and your professional network.
- Evaluate grid capacity and connection opportunities, ensuring project feasibility from both a technical and commercial perspective.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks with clear communication, prioritization, and mitigation strategies.
- Support commercial negotiations, due diligence, and investment appraisals, contributing to project financial models and business cases.
- Lead and coordinate meetings with landowners, municipalities, grid operators, and other key stakeholders, fostering trust and long-term relationships.
- Negotiate and secure land rights, lease agreements, and access arrangements to enable successful project development.
Your profile
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Law, Architecture, or another relevant discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in renewable-energy project development in Spain, with at least 2-3 years focused on BESS (essential).
- Proven track record in site origination, land negotiation, and stakeholder engagement within the Spanish energy sector.
- Solid understanding of Spanish grid regulations, permitting processes, and regional land-use planning.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess project value and risk under time and cost pressure.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial mindset - proactive, self-driven, and adaptable to a fast-moving market environment.
- Able to work independently and remotely, while actively contributing to a collaborative, international team culture.
- Valid driver's license.
- Fluent in Spanish with professional proficiency in English.
