Job Description

  • Evaluate the performance and degradation of PEM electrolyzer stacks and components over time
  • Identify and mitigate potential failure modes using tools like FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
  • Design and execute reliability testing plans and protocols for PEM electrolyser and their subsystems. This includes accelerated stress testing, durability assessments, and performance mapping.
  • Collaborate with test engineers to design and execute long-term reliability tests under various operating conditions.
  • Work with materials scientists to assess how different materials affect system durability and efficiency.
  • Work with manufacturing and quality control teams to improve production processes. Implement quality control procedures and specifications to minimize defects and ensure a reliable product.
  • Analyze operational data to detect trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of test results, analysis, and engineering recommendations. Prepare and present technical reports to stakeholders.
  • Provides ongoing training and education to the team to ensure its ability to execute on the Company and team goals and objectives.
  • Builds a strong development team by ensuring effective coaching and counseling employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

Qualification

  • B.Tech/M.Tech in Chemical /Materials or Metallurgy with 8+ years' experience or Ph. D in Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related discipline with 5+ years of experience in product testing and material characterization.
  • Deep knowledge in electrochemical characterization techniques: CV, LSV, EIS and standard testing protocol for electrolyzer systems.
  • Proven ability to bridge engineering and operational teams to drive measurable product improvements.
  • Strong data analysis skills; proficiency with reliability tools and statistical software.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills

The Principal Engineer-Electrochemical is responsible for ensuring the long-term reliability, durability, and safety of PEM electrolyser systems. This role involves applying sound engineering principles and rigorous testing methodologies throughout the product lifecycle-starting from initial design and validation, through manufacturing, and extending to field operations. The engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including design, process, and manufacturing departments, to develop and implement detailed qualification plans that are in alignment with the overall product roadmap.
