NextEra Energy Transmission Southwest (NEET SW) is currently seeking an experienced High Voltage lead technician to support the field operation group. NEET SW is a transmission service provider that owns and operates approximately 135 miles of 345 kV transmission infrastructure across Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma through two primary asset corridors. The Wolf Creek to Blackberry corridor extends approximately 90 miles from Burlington, Kansas to Jasper County, Missouri, with NEET SW maintaining a strategically located field office in Fort Scott, Kansa. The Minco to Pleasant Valley to Draper corridor extends approximately 40 miles from Minco, Oklahoma to Norman, Oklahoma, supported by NEET SW's field office in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Employees in this role provide direct support for operations and maintenance activities related to high voltage transmission lines and substations assets. Execute, track and report out maintenance and project progress. Support compliance group as needed to meet applicable compliance requirements. Ensure compliance to construction specifications, operating standards and procedures. The ideal candidate will travel as needed within NEET SW system. Main office location for this position will be in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma or Fort Scott, Kansas and travel as needed within NEET SW region, including occasional travel to support other NEET business units
Job Overview
This position provides daily supervision and decision-making of tasks for various levels of HV Technicians in their work in the areas of field operations, collection system construction and maintenance, transmission maintenance, substation maintenance, engineering, and troubleshooting support. This position provides field project planning, leadership and management, and contract coordinator oversite within the fleet with minimal supervision while ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of electricity to the power grid. This position is a technical resource to lower level technicians providing technical guidance and support.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Executes the daily task assignments and decision-making relevant to those specific tasks of self and direct reports
- Works independently in leading the decisions and execution of daily tasks of self and direct reports with appropriate supervision
- Plans, assigns and executes assignments with appropriate oversite by HV Manager
- Performs and completes assigned Maximo Work tasks with cross-functional assets, resources, and supervision
- Leads in quality initiatives while learning and utilizing NEE quality tools
- Provides technical assistance and training to direct reports and lower-level technicians in their assignments and in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Participates in collaborative teams with minimal supervision
- Maintains adherence to NEE Safety Culture, policies, and processes while meeting all safety targets
- Maintains compliance and non-compliance maintenance schedules under minimum supervision to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations, and market requirements
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High School Grad / GED
- Experience: 8+ years
- Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)

- Bachelor's Degree
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified
