Job Description

The Opportunity

As the Head of Health, Safety, Security & Environment, you will lead Zenobe's global HSSE strategy, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, investor, insurance, and customer requirements across all markets. This role requires a strategic leader who can drive continuous improvement, manage compliance across multiple international jurisdictions, and embed a strong HSSE culture throughout the business. You will play a critical role in supporting Zenobe's expansion into new markets while maintaining high standards of safety, health, environmental responsibility, across all operations.

A Taste of the Day to Day

  • Develop and implement a global HSSE strategy, ensuring compliance in all operating regions (UK, USA, Australia & New Zealand, Canada & Germany).
  • Maintain and uphold compliance with legal, regulatory, investor, insurance, and customer requirements related to HSSE across all regions.
  • Lead HSSE governance and integrate best practices across the business, ensuring alignment with international standards.
  • Work alongside the COO, Director of Delivery, and Director of Asset Management to define and oversee internal audit requirements, policies, and processes.
  • Establish, monitor, and manage HSSE KPIs, ensuring performance is continuously improved through collaboration with operational teams.
  • Ensure that Zenobe maintains compliance with relevant ISO standards in the UK and aligns with the equivalent regulations in all other operating regions. Collaborate with third-party specialists to adapt processes for local compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, working closely with delivery and operational leads to enhance safety, environmental sustainability, and security performance.
  • Develop and implement security protocols and procedures to protect personnel, assets, and information across all operational regions. Including Crisis Management, physical security risks and compliance against security-related regulations.
  • Oversee the investigation of accidents, incidents, and dangerous occurrences, ensuring lessons are learned, communicated, and preventative measures are implemented across the business.
  • Conduct regular on-site audits and support for projects in both delivery and live operation phases, ensuring HSSE standards are upheld globally.
  • Provide leadership and advisory support on CDM regulations and manage Principal Contractor and Principal Designer appointments across the portfolio.
  • Manage third-party HSSE consultants and advisors, ensuring effective oversight and strategic alignment.
  • Foster a strong HSSE culture, promoting engagement, awareness, and accountability across all teams.

  • 10+ years of experience in HSSE leadership roles within construction, operations, or energy sectors, with experience managing international compliance.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing global HSSE strategies and frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of international HSSE regulations, including CDM 2015 (UK) and equivalent standards in other markets.
  • Experience working with ISO management systems and ensuring compliance with multiple country-specific regulations.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and drive cultural change.
  • A hands-on, collaborative leadership style, with excellent coaching and training skills.
  • Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis to support regional teams and conduct on-site audits.
  • Experience in Crisis Management and managing physical security frameworks across international jurisdictions.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant discipline (Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field).
  • Environmental Management System Qualification (e.g., ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, IEMA).
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma, Lean methodologies).
