Responsibilities
- Coordinates and implements the HSE site specific plans for start-up and existing Service locations in conjunction with line management. Monitors progress on completion of the site-specific plan.
- Supports site management and provides professional coaching and review of incident investigations and corrective actions through 5 Why and TapRoot incident investigation methods.
- Oversees the management of work-related injuries at regional Vestas locations
- Represents HSE with Service Operations at customer meetings
- Interacts externally with authorities as necessary
- Responsible for environmental support to regional Vestas locations.
- Encourage the adoption of HSE programs to reduce injuries across the Vestas locations, with a high focus on soft tissue injury prevention
- Build organization capability by providing HSE training and development of HSE coordinators to ensure each site within the sub-region has the appropriate technical and functional competencies.
- Participate in the start-up/transition activities of new or expanding Vestas locations
- Oversee the investigation process of incidents and accidents to determine root causes and prepare/direct corrective and preventive action plans
- Support line management with the Incident Management System (IMS) to ensure timely investigation and closure of all applicable incidents
- Maintains current knowledge of HSE industry best practices and technological developments and equipment to remain up-to-date on related systems, devices and techniques designed to eliminate or minimize associated risks. Keeps current on regulatory requirements pertaining to HSE for assigned region.
Qualifications
- Bachelors' degree in Environmental Management, Industrial Health & Safety or related equivalent
- Minimum 3 years' work experience in general industry, industrial and/or construction environmental, or health & safety.
- Experience in cultural change and behavior-based safety programs, as well as HSE programs and policies across multiple jurisdictions
- Direct experience with wind industry operations highly desirable
- Ability to interact with senior leadership, other departments, and with vendors and customers
- Experience in applying international EHS standards (ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO 45001) across business units and geographies.
- Experience with TapRoot or other root cause analysis process.
- Experience with ergonomics, behavioral safety and a safety culture program is desired.
- Understanding of mechanical, electric and hydraulic systems
- Experience with cranes, lifting and rigging, safety management systems, control of hazardous energy, confined space requirements, work at heights and soft tissue injury prevention
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and/or Canada without company sponsorship
- Computer skills necessary include Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint and basic skills in SAP
- Proficient in working remotely with little to no supervision
- Ability to audit, manage global and local standards, have basic knowledge of manufacturing and system function

- Comfort occasionally working in confined spaces and at heights over 100 meters.
- Ability to participate in all training courses, including controlled descent
- Ability to hear and see, including the ability to perceive depth and distinguish colors, sufficient to perform job functions and use close range radios.
- Able to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions.
- Comfort working remotely in a Turbine as part of a team with limited supervisory interaction.
