Job Description

The Quality Inspector tests and inspects products at various stages of the production process, and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and ensure quality and reliability of Blades and Blade Sub-Components.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies defects impact Defects per Unit (DPU) and First Pass Yield (FPY) factory metrics and works for resolution by collaborating with Production and Technical Support departments. Creates and maintains relevant documentation to solidify improvement methods. Coaches and supports production members on approved manufacturing processes and provides an interface to other departments to ensure expedient resolution of issues.
  • Case handles NCs as assigned and supports factory personnel on initiation. Performs containment of non-conforming parts or products. Supports part disposition for scrap or internal rework.
  • Facilitates non-standard work events and ensures that all processes are followed to bring product back into conformance.
  • Inspects and verifies material according to specifications for known defects and support creation of non-conformity reports for any defects.
  • Coordinates rework activities for NC parts or products in progress or inventory with Quality Engineer and Quality Technician support.
  • Provides an independent quality approval to processes that he/she is not a participant in the manufacturing of such products.
  • Facilitates the Form, Fit, and Function testing of identified products. Writes NC reports on parts not meeting defined specifications.
  • Support the production line on potential quality issues and provides guidance to specifications. Serve as the initial point of contact for escalation of any quality concerns to the Quality Technicians and Quality Engineers.
  • Verifies whether the set product requirements are fulfilled before the product is released from the manufacturing department. This includes a review of the inspection journal for completion. Responsible for the review of QDA and verifying that the process documentation is complete. Inspects product to determine compliance with order specifications, company's quality control system for compliance.
  • Compiles and communicates the Quality reports. Reports daily at the morning DM meeting the Quality status from the day prior.
  • Ensure non-conforming material is properly marked and sent to the warehouse for quarantine in the MRB area. Serve as the primary point of contact for NC material for the Material Review Board (MRB). Ensures that information the MRB team can quickly disposition Non-conformity (NC) material and communicates the results back to the production teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Training, and Skills Required

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Composite repair experience, including demonstrated work with fiberglass and composite materials.
  • Strong computer skills are essential.
  • Experience with SAP and QDA is highly preferred.
  • Must be comfortable with:
    • Excel formulas
    • Creating reports
    • Exporting and parsing data from SAP/QDA
  • Ideal candidates are motivated by software/data work.
  • Strong natural ability to work in teams, high degree of adaptability & flexibility, strong desire to learn new skills & knowledge, excellent work ethic, dependability & dedication to team/company, personal desire/value to produce quality work, and ability/desire to work as a craftsman with hand tools.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Experience auditing, quality assurance/control/improvement, statistical tools, 6 Sigma, statistical analysis and SPC preferred
