At Landis+Gyr, we don't just manage energy-we lead the transformation toward a smarter and more sustainable energy future.

With a net revenue of USD 1.73 billion in FY 2024, and a presence in over 30 countries across five continents, Landis+Gyr empowers utilities and consumers to optimize energy usage through advanced metering, grid-edge intelligence, and powerful data analytics.

Our record USD 4.6 billion order backlog and strong book-to-bill ratio reflect long-term confidence in our mission and solutions.

Join us at Landis+Gyr, where we manage energy better!

Role Overview

The Director of Communications is responsible for shaping and elevating Landis+Gyr's corporate narrative both externally and internally during a period of strategic transformation.

This role leads global corporate communications with a clear mandate: shift market perception from a legacy metering provider to a trusted partner delivering grid-edge intelligence, resilience, and measurable impact.

This leader will build visibility, credibility, and trust through disciplined media engagement, consistent messaging, and strong executive counsel. Success in this role requires a strategic communicator who understands complex energy technology, regulated markets, and enterprise customers and who can translate that complexity into clear, compelling stories that resonate with utilities, policymakers, partners, and employees.

This is a hands-on leadership role that blends strategy with execution and operates as a close partner to the CEO, CMO, CFO, and executive leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Narrative & Brand Perception

  • Own and evolve Landis+Gyr's corporate narrative in alignment with the company's brand platform and strategic priorities.
  • Drive consistency and clarity across all external communications while reinforcing Landis+Gyr's role as a trusted, future-ready partner.
  • Translate complex grid-edge, software, and intelligence capabilities into messages that emphasize impacts: resilience, reliability, affordability, and sustainability.

IPO Readiness (Communications Enablement)

  • Partner with the executive team, legal and financial stakeholders to ensure corporate communications, media narratives, and executive messaging are disciplined, compliant, and ready to support a potential public-market transition.
  • Work closely with the IR team to ensure alignment.
  • Support employee communications to build excitement and pride.

Media Relations & Thought Leadership

  • Lead global media relations with a primary focus on shaping and shifting market perception.
  • Develop proactive media strategies that position Landis+Gyr as a category leader in intelligent energy and grid modernization.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with top-tier business, energy, technology, and trade media.
  • Secure high-quality coverage that supports long-term brand leadership rather than short-term announcements.

Executive Communications & Counsel

  • Serve as a trusted communications advisor to the CEO, CFO, CMO and executive leadership team.
  • Develop executive messaging, media preparation, speaking points, and thought leadership content.
  • Provide clear, steady counsel in sensitive situations, ensuring alignment, credibility, and confidence.

Analyst Relations (Corporate Focus)

  • Lead corporate analyst relations in partnership with marketing, government relations and product leadership.
  • Ensure analysts clearly understand Landis+Gyr's strategy, differentiation, and evolution.
  • Support briefings, inquiries, and ongoing engagement to reinforce consistent positioning.

Crisis & Issues Communications

  • Own crisis communications planning, playbooks, and execution.
  • Anticipate potential reputational risks in a highly visible, regulated environment.
  • Act decisively during issues or incidents to protect trust and credibility.

Social Media & External Channels

  • Share (with digital marketing) corporate social media strategy with an emphasis on executive visibility, thought leadership, and brand credibility.
  • Ensure social channels reinforce core narratives and amplify earned media.
  • Drive steady growth in reach, engagement, and influence.

Internal Alignment & Change Communications

  • Partner with internal communications and leadership to support major initiatives, transformation efforts, and cultural alignment.
  • Ensure employees understand and can confidently articulate the Landis+Gyr story.

Team & Agency Leadership

  • Lead and develop a high-performing communications team.
  • Manage external PR and communications agencies to ensure quality, consistency, and impact.
  • Establish clear goals, metrics, and accountability tied to brand outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or related disciplines.
  • Significant experience in enterprise technology, software, or infrastructure-focused B2B environments.
  • Proven success leading media relations programs that shift perception and elevate brand credibility.
  • Strong background in executive communications and crisis management.
  • Experience building communications programs from the ground up and scaling them globally.
  • Ability to operate comfortably in complex, regulated, and high-stakes environments.
  • Exceptional writing, messaging, and storytelling skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a practical, hands-on execution mindset.
  • Trusted presence with the ability to influence across functions and geographies.
  • BA/BS required; MBA preferred.

What Success Looks Like

  • Clear, consistent market understanding of Landis+Gyr as a leader in intelligent energy-not just metering.
  • Increased quality and relevance of media coverage in priority outlets.
  • Strong executive visibility supported by credible, confident messaging.
  • Proactive, effective management of reputational risk.
  • Communications that reinforce trust with customers, partners, investors, policymakers, and employees.
