Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior HR Advisor to join our team in The Netherlands on a staff basis. Within the HR Department, the Senior HR Advisor provides advanced HR operational support, resolving a wide range of employee and manager queries and ensuring accurate, compliant HR delivery. The role applies advanced knowledge of Dutch employment legislation, HR processes and systems, and operates with a high degree of independence.
The role includes managing complex operational HR cases, supporting managers on day‑to‑day people matters, delivering high‑quality HR processes, and contributing to continuous improvement across HR Operations.
What will you be doing?
HR Advice & Employee Support
- Serve as the first point of contact for HR queries from managers and employees, providing accurate and timely guidance on HR processes, policies, and employment‑related matters.
- Provide clear guidance on terms and conditions of employment, benefits, leave entitlements, and local HR policies.
- Respond to employee concerns and routine grievances, managing expectations and ensuring professional and accurate handling of cases.
- Identify development needs within assigned business areas and provide practical guidance to managers on available learning solutions.
HR Operations & Data Management
- Use HR information systems (SAP SuccessFactors) to input, validate, and analyse HR data, ensuring accuracy across payroll, contracts, and employee lifecycle events.
- Ensure accurate and compliant HR delivery for all Netherlands‑specific processes, including onboarding, contracts, payroll changes, leave administration, and HR data management.
- Support managers in the accurate and timely completion of performance evaluations, probation reviews, and development documentation.
- Track contractor assignments and ensure timely processing of extensions and contract updates.
HR Analytics & Process Improvement
- Apply analytical skills to monitor trends in absence, turnover, and HR process metrics, recommending improvements to enhance operational efficiency and employee experience.
- Monitor absence trends, guide managers on correct procedures, and coordinate required documentation to reduce avoidable absenteeism.
- Participate in HR Operations improvement initiatives, supporting process optimisation, documentation updates, and system enhancements.
- Contribute to the creation, updating and improvement of HR policies, procedures, and operational guidance documents.
Employee Relations & Case Management
- Independently manage complex illness and long‑term sickness cases, ensuring full compliance with Wet verbetering poortwachter requirements.
- Lead operational dismissal case handling, preparing documentation, supporting managers through the correct process steps, and coordinating with legal advisors.
Recruitment & Mobility Support
- Support managers with recruitment‑related operational activities including job posting coordination, interview logistics, and employment documentation.
- Coordinate with the HRBP and other HR Advisors to support internal mobility and ensure smooth execution of operational steps.
Compliance, Immigration & Expatriate Administration
- Manage immigration activities, relocation coordination and IND compliance, including expatriate staff administration.
- Ensure HR processes comply with Dutch employment legislation and internal governance requirements.
What experience would we like you to have?
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Labour Law.
- Extensive experience in an HR Advisory or HR Business facing role, with deep knowledge of Dutch employment legislation.
- Demonstrated capability to manage complex illness and Poortwachter cases, taking full ownership of the process.
- Solid experience supporting poor performance, conduct and dismissal processes, including preparing documentation and liaising with legal counsel.
- Experienced in HR Systems (SAP SuccessFactors) and adept at using Office 365 tools.
- Ability to analyse HR data, recognise trends, and make informed recommendations.
- Able to manage stakeholders effectively and communicate clearly.
- Skilled in handling sensitive conversations and facilitating constructive problem solving.
- Demonstrates professionalism, discretion, and integrity in handling confidential information.
- Demonstrates clear and effective written and spoken communication in Dutch and English.
