Company Overview

SolarPower Europe

Brussels, Belgium

1985

Approximately 100 employees (source: rocketreach.co). Revenue of approximately $4 million in 2023 (source: rocketreach.co).

What They Do

SolarPower Europe focuses exclusively on solar photovoltaics (PV), serving as the premier association linking policymakers with the European solar PV value chain to make solar Europe's leading energy source by 2030 (source: solarpowereurope.org). The organization does not develop technologies like wind, storage, hydrogen, or grid infrastructure itself but provides advocacy, policy influence, and market intelligence through reports such as the Global Market Outlook for Solar Power and the EU Solar Jobs Report (source: solarpowereurope.org). It also coordinates business opportunities and runs workstreams on corporate sourcing via the RE-Source Platform, co-founded in 2017 with WindEurope, RE100, and WBCSD (source: solarpowereurope.org). Target markets encompass the full European solar PV sector, uniting over 300 organizations, with customer segments including corporates pursuing renewable sourcing and policymakers at EU and national levels (source: solarpowereurope.org). Its competitive position as the leading solar association stems from Brussels-based policy expertise and partnerships with over 40 global organizations, enabling it to drive solar toward 100% renewable systems by 2040 (source: solarpowereurope.org).

Projects & Track Record

As a trade association rather than a project developer, SolarPower Europe does not have direct completed or ongoing solar projects with capacities, locations, or costs; its track record centers on advocacy successes like contributing to EU policies enabling 350 GW EU solar capacity by 2025 (source: solarpowereurope.org). Key clients include its 320 members in 2025, spanning the PV value chain, while partnerships feature co-foundations such as the RE-Source Platform, which tracks 40 GW of corporate PPAs and projects a potential of 880 GW by 2050 for commercial and industrial prosumers (source: solarpowereurope.org). Geographically, it maintains a pan-European presence through advocacy at the EU level and national influence, with events like RE-Source 2024 in Amsterdam, fostering expansion without physical offices beyond Brussels (source: solarpowereurope.org).

Recent Developments

In the last two years, SolarPower Europe marked its 40th anniversary with the "40 Years Around the Sun" campaign, highlighting solar's growth to 2 TW globally and policy wins like the 2024 Net Zero Industry Act and the 2025 EU agenda centering solar (source: solarpowereurope.org). On October 3, 2023, its board issued a statement rejecting tariffs amid a "perfect storm" of low PV prices, proposing adaptations for factory costs and a "Solar Manufacturing Bank" for financing (source: cbinsights.com). It has secured 11 awards total, produced updated reports like the EU Solar Jobs Report, and hosted events such as RE-Source 2024 on October 24-25 in Amsterdam for renewable buyers and suppliers (source: solarpowereurope.org). No acquisitions, mergers, or funding rounds apply, given its non-profit status; milestones include the last updated statutes and story page in November 2025 (source: solarpowereurope.org).

Working There

SolarPower Europe offers roles primarily in policy advocacy, market analysis, communications, event coordination, and corporate sourcing, with dedicated policy experts leading workstreams on regulations and a team of top analysts producing reports (source: solarpowereurope.org). Hiring occurs at its Brussels headquarters, as the sole office location (source: cbinsights.com). Company culture emphasizes passion for member delivery, going the extra mile, embracing diversity and inclusion, and embedding sustainable practices across operations, as stated in its core values, with a member-led board ensuring alignment (source: solarpowereurope.org). Specific employee benefits are not documented in available sources.
