What They Do

Flo Energy focuses on renewable electricity retailing, positioning itself as Singapore's largest independent licensed retailer (EMA/RE/041) by matching 100% of customer usage with regional Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) (source: floenergy.sg). The company offers a range of services including affordable fixed-rate electricity plans, which are supported by in-house technology designed for cost efficiency. Their innovative FlowSmart dashboard allows customers to monitor real-time usage, manage payments, and oversee contract details seamlessly (source: floenergy.sg). Additionally, Flo provides CAPEX-free solar Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for on-site generation and manages tenant billing for over 1,500 tenants across various sectors, including malls and healthcare (source: floenergy.sg). Targeting businesses and property managers, Flo Energy aims to deliver scalable green energy solutions without outages or hidden fees during transitions (source: floenergy.sg).

Projects & Track Record

Flo Energy has established a strong track record in renewable retailing, focusing on customer onboarding and service delivery rather than large-scale project capacities (source: floenergy.sg). The company serves a diverse clientele, including businesses seeking Eco Office and Eco Manufacturing certifications through RECs, and has implemented rooftop solar monitoring solutions during the COVID-19 pandemic (source: floenergy.sg). Key partnerships, such as with Vitol for global scaling and Holistics for data analytics, have been instrumental in maintaining an 80% monthly active user rate among its team (source: floenergy.sg). With a geographic focus on Singapore and an expanding presence in Australia, Flo Energy is committed to providing comprehensive market coverage as a licensed retailer (source: floenergy.sg).

Recent Developments

In 2023, Flo Energy expanded its operations to Australia by opening an office in Melbourne and launching Flo Energy Australia under Flo Holding (source: floenergy.sg). The company secured investment from Vitol to accelerate its market entry and growth in the region (source: floenergy.sg). In 2024, Flo was recognized in the SME100 Awards Hall of Fame for its innovative contributions to solar solutions and energy management (source: prnewswire.com). A November 2024 press release highlighted Flo's status as Singapore's fastest-growing independent retailer, reflecting the company's adaptability to SME cost priorities (source: prnewswire.com).

Working There

Flo Energy offers a variety of roles primarily in technical and engineering fields at its office located at D07 Golden Mile, Middle Road in Singapore. The company has grown rapidly from a small team of two founders to approximately 150 employees, reflecting a tech-driven culture that emphasizes innovation and collaboration (source: floenergy.sg). While specific employee benefits are not detailed, the company promotes a supportive environment for both employees and customers, focusing on seamless processes and local support (source: floenergy.sg). Open roles invite individuals who share the vision of transitioning users to renewable energy solutions (source: floenergy.sg).

We are building smarter, fairer energy solutions for businesses and people, and to make that happen, we are looking for a commercially minded Legal Counsel with a few years of experience to support our growing energy retail business across Singapore.

At Flo, we operate in a high-trust, low-ego environment where people are empowered to do their best work. We value clarity over complexity, including in how legal advice supports the business. We work collaboratively across teams, with Legal seen as a partner, not a blocker, and we encourage people to speak up, challenge constructively, and take ownership.

We move fast, stay practical, and focus on solutions that work in the real world, while always doing the right thing for our customers, our partners, and each other.

What you'll do

  • Manage and maintain a variety of legal documentation, including standard contract templates and bespoke agreements
  • Draft, review, and negotiate mid-level service, supply, and partnership agreements, identifying and mitigating legal and commercial risk
  • Review documentation for risk exposure and advise on appropriate risk positions
  • Support dispute resolution matters, including managing escalated issues with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel
  • Advise business units on operational legal and compliance risks, including obligations under contracts and applicable laws
  • Raise legal awareness across the business through practical guidance and support
  • Review, develop, and improve internal policy frameworks, governance and compliance documentation

You will be a good candidate if you have

  • A recognised Law degree
  • 3-5 years of post-qualification experience, in-house or in a commercial / corporate practice
  • Strong experience managing and negotiating commercial contracts and complex documentation
  • Experience advising on operational legal risks, compliance, and contractual obligations
  • Exposure to dispute resolution, including working with internal stakeholders and external counsel
  • The ability to provide clear, practical legal guidance to non-legal teams
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple matters in parallel
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset suited to a fast-paced business environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Based in Singapore

Extra points if you

  • Have experience in the energy retail, utilities, or broader energy sector
  • Are familiar with Singapore energy market regulations or regulatory compliance frameworks
  • Have worked in a high-growth, start-up, or scale-up environment
  • Have experience reviewing or building policy and governance frameworks
  • Are confident to take ownership of matters and operate with a high degree of autonomy

Culture and Benefits

  • An exciting start up position where you can make an impact
  • The opportunity to work closely with senior leaders and make a visible impact as the business scales
  • Work in an open-minded and dynamic environment
  • Support for professional development and continuous learning
  • Five weeks annual leave and great work-life balance
