Job Description

ScottishPower is part of the Iberdrola Group, one of the world's largest integrated utility companies and a global leader in renewable energy. We are investing billions in the UK to modernise the grid, expand renewable generation and support the transition to Net Zero.

Tax plays a critical role in enabling that investment. We are now looking for a Corporate Tax Accountant to join our established inhouse UK tax team, supporting corporate tax compliance, reporting and advisory activity across a large and complex group.

This role offers the opportunity to work at scale within a supportive, collaborative tax function, contributing to meaningful work that underpins the delivery of major infrastructure and energy projects.

What you will be doing

Working as part of the UK inhouse tax team, you will support the delivery of corporate tax compliance and internal and external reporting for UK group companies. You will prepare corporation tax computations to ensure statutory and internal deadlines are met, supporting a portfolio of large UK entities within the Iberdrola Group.

You will assist with the preparation of corporate and deferred tax provisions under IFRS forUK companies and subgroups, enabling timely sign off of statutory accounts and group reporting. Responding to HMRC enquiries will form part of the role, by delivering timely resolutions and helping reach satisfactory outcomes. You will also provide practical tax input on ad hoc queries from across the business, advising colleagues in finance, legal, regulation and business planning teams.

In addition, you will support the review of investment proposals and business cases, ensuring tax issues are identified, appropriately modelled and addressed prior to submission to internal governance forums. You will also assist with tax planning initiatives and transactions where required.

As a minimum, you will be ATT qualified (or equivalent), with a clear commitment to continuing your professional development either through working towards the CTA qualification or gaining further experience. You will have a good understanding of UK corporation tax compliance, reporting and governance. You will be enthusiastic and confident applying your technical knowledge in a hands-on, inhouse setting and comfortable dealing with a range of tax matters across the business.

Experience of deferred tax is desirable, although support and training can be provided. You will have well developed written and verbal communication skills, be comfortable working to demanding deadlines, and contribute effectively as part of a collaborative, specialist tax team.

What is in it for you
