At Fairwind, clear and precise work instructions and technical safety documentation is vital to the safety of our technicians and quality in our work. We are expanding our Service Engineering team with a Technical Writer who understands this responsibility and enjoys transforming complex work processes into instructions that genuinely work in the field.
If you like structure, technical accuracy, and collaborating with people who perform wind turbine maintenance - you'll feel at home.
Your qualifications
- Experience creating technical work instructions used by field technicians.
- Ability to collaborate directly with Engineers and Technicians and capture the hands-on experience to communicate this in the instructions.
- Skills in PDF publishing tools
- Ability to integrate photos and videos using Microsoft 365 tools
- A mindset focused on structure, clarity, and precision.
What Helps You Stand Out
- Interest in video/camera technology and documenting real‑life procedures.
- Openness to travel and capturing tasks on‑site, from preparation to final checks.
- Comfort with a hybrid role that blends office documentation (~75%) with turbine/site exposure (~25%).
- Previous experience in turbine maintenance or service is a strong plus - but not a requirement.
- Experience with action cameras and drones for comprehensive procedure documentation will also be advantageous - but not a requirement
Your Role
This role goes far beyond "writing manuals."
You will contribute to how service work is executed across turbines, ensuring every technician has the right information at the right time.
Your work will include:
- Creating and updating clear, step‑by‑step work instructions for preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Translating engineering and operational knowledge into practical, technician‑centric documentation to be applied in the turbines.
- Working closely with senior technicians, engineers, and project teams to capture best practices, constraints, and lessons learned.
- Managing the full lifecycle of technical documents - from validation to approval and publication.
- Ensuring full compliance with quality, safety, and operational standards.
- Integrating photos, visuals, and short instructional videos to support execution of our service works.
Your mission is simple:
If a technician picks up your work instruction, they should know exactly what to do - safely and effectively.
Why This Role Matters
Under the leadership of Head of Service Engineering, our team is focused on raising the standard of how technical work is being documented and executed.
Your contribution will impact and directly influence safety and performance on every job.
This is a role for someone who wants their work to be used, not stored.
For someone who wants to see the tangible impact of their documentation.
For someone who enjoys diving into complex technical work and being able to convey the "how to do it" in short and precise communication.
