Job Description

ISCC - International Sustainability and Carbon Certification is one of the leading certification systems for sustainability, traceability and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Our activities and impact are expanding and our teams are growing exponentially since the last 3 years.
To further strengthen our Certification Body Management team, we are looking forward to welcoming you as Certification Body Oversight & Quality Specialist at our ISCC headquarters in Cologne.

In this role, you will help ensure the quality, consistency, and integrity of ISCC's global certification ecosystem through effective oversight of Certification Bodies (CBs).

Your main duties will be

  • Implementation of the CB application and approval process, incl. technical competence evaluation, integrity due diligence, risk assessment, and evaluation of proposed audit teams
  • Conducting and maintaining CB risk assessments by analysing relevant indicators and adjusting oversight measures accordingly
  • Ongoing monitoring of CBs, incl. desk reviews, targeted quality checks, risk-based integrity checks, and coordination of CB office or witness audits
  • Contribution to the development and refinement of the CB performance evaluation framework, incl. metrics, scoring methods, and structured evaluation tools
  • Supporting the continuous improvement of CB quality management processes in alignment with ISO/IEC 17065 and ISCC requirements
  • Development, harmonisation, and maintenance of procedures, templates, and guidance materials to ensure consistency across the system
  • Depending on experience, leading selected oversight activities or improvement projects

Additional duties can be

  • Analysis of CB performance data to identify trends, systemic issues, and improvement opportunities, incl. preparation of internal summaries and recommendations
  • Ensuring timely, clear, and professional communication with CBs
  • Supporting the development and harmonisation of auditor competence requirements, incl. review of qualification files and training records
  • Collaboration with CB partners, external stakeholders, and internal ISCC teams to ensure consistent interpretation and application of ISCC rules
  • Maintaining accurate, complete, and compliant documentation of oversight activities

Your profile

Professional background

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. sustainability, environmental sciences, auditing, quality management, supply chain management)
  • At least 3 years of experience in certification, auditing, conformity assessment, quality assurance, or CB management
  • Strong knowledge of ISO/IEC 17065 (related standards are an advantage)
  • Solid understanding of sustainability certification systems (ideally bioenergy, biofuels, circular/renewable materials)

Methodological & personal skills

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • High assessment and decision-making capability in risk-based environments
  • Structured, independent, and reliable working style
  • Clear and professional communication skills
  • High integrity and confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent English language skills (at least C1, written and spoken); German language skills are a plus
