Job Description

Do you want to dive deep into materials and understand what truly drives performance at the core of next-generation energy technology? At Epishine, we are looking for a Junior R&D Engineer who is curious, hands-on, and motivated by exploring how materials behave, turning scientific insight into real, high-performing devices. Join us and be part of shaping the future of sustainable energy from the inside out!

The mission

As a Junior R&D Engineer, you will be part of our R&D team working hands-on in the lab with our materials and devices. In the beginning, your focus will be to learn how our materials behave by supporting experiments - fabricating solar cells, measuring their performance, understanding how to avoid failure modes, and helping to collect and structure data.

You will work closely with more experienced engineers, gradually building your understanding of how materials impact device performance. Over time, you will take on more responsibility in experiments - analyzing results, contributing to improvements, and supporting the development of new materials.

As you grow in the role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to experiment design and development projects, while continuing to deepen your technical expertise.

The role is based 100% on site in our facilities in Linköping where you will collaborate with an international team of R&D Engineers, laboratory assistant, Phd students and other researchers. The role will start out with a 6 month probation period.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an analytical and curious engineer who enjoys working close to the materials and diving deep into how they behave and perform. You likely have:

  • A Master's degree (or graduating soon) in physics, chemistry, materials science, or a related field
  • Hands-on lab experience and an interest in experimental work and understanding materials in depth
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in English

As a person, you are analytical and solution-oriented, with the ability to break down complex problems. You have a detail-focused and structured mindset, with a strong sense for data quality and experimental rigor. You are curious and driven, motivated by understanding how things work at a fundamental level, and your collaborative and communicative ability enables you to share insights and align with others.

You enjoy working with complex questions and see R&D not just as a job, but as something you are genuinely interested in exploring and improving.

What do we offer?

At Epishine, we offer the chance to be part of an exciting journey and the opportunity to contribute to a more sustainable planet. Additionally, we offer a secure employment with pension and insurance benefits, yearly wellness allowance and a friendly company culture where collaboration, innovation and sustainability are at our core.

Application procedure

Does this role sound exciting? Then apply today! You can apply for the position until the 19th of April. Starting date is flexible, but we aim for some time before.

Good to know

We use psychometric tests, such as personality and logic assessments, as part of our recruitment process to ensure fairness and objectivity. These tests help us look beyond a CV and understand each candidate's natural strengths, problem-solving ability, and working style. By using standardized assessments, we create a more equal opportunity for all applicants, reduce bias, and make sure the role is a good match for both the candidate and the team.
